(Cheever) Demrest, 80, formerly of Bridge Street, North Grafton, died yesterday in University of Massachusetts Hospital, Worcester, after an illness. Her husband, Edward G. Demrest, died in 1987. She leaves five sons, Edward G. Demrest Jr. of Canyon Country, Calif.; Kendall W. Demrest of Woonsocket, R.I., William E. Demrest in Lake County, Fla., Richard A. Demrest of Whitinsville and Earl P. Demrest of East Douglas; five daughters, Earline M. Foss of Corinna, Maine, Eva A. Lillie of Pawtucket, R.I., Leona M. Perron in Lake County, Fla., Patricia E. Demrest in Marion County, Fla., and Barbara A. Tempesta of Dexter, Maine.; a brother, Warren Cheever of Sterling; 50 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Perry W. and Elsie M. (Bombard) Cheever, and was raised in Shrewsbury. She then lived many years in North Grafton. After that, she then lived several years in Woonsocket and Blackstone. She graduated from Shrewsbury High School. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. tomorrow in St. Philip's Cemetery, Millbury Street. Calling hours are 7 to 9 tonight at Robert C. Roney Funeral Home, 152 Worcester St., North Grafton.
