Hello. I am trying to find a birth record for George E Daly, and his parents names. George was born in Boston around 1895. His father may of been George T Daly. George T Daly was married to Mary G Cunningham from 1883 till her death in 1897, he then married Elizabeth A Rourke in 1900. I'm not sure if George E had any brothers or sisters. Hi Bob, I can only do a quick look this morning, but there is a large DALY family in Boston in 1880: DALY, GEORGE F (1880 U.S. Census) MASSACHUSETTS , SUFFOLK, BOSTON; 12-WD Age: 14, Race: WHITE, Born: MA Series: T9 Roll: 556 Page: 236 This was the family of Richard and Mary DALY and their 8 children. He was a printer. He and his wife both born in Ireland. There was another family in Boston; Michael and Cathie DALY, about the same age, and 6 children. OH, I was just going to say that they both had a son, George, 14, but on closer look this George is a nephew. Maybe he showed up with both families. OH, it says he was born in TN. ??? The 1900 census has this: DALY, GEORGE P (1900 U.S. Census) MASSACHUSETTS , SUFFOLK, 17-WD BOSTON Age: 30, Male, Race: WHITE, Born: TN Series: T623 Roll: 684 Page: 242 He with wife and 2 small children. Also in 1900 there is a George DALY living in the Tewksbury State Hospital as an inmate. (And 2 other DALY's.) But, he was born in NY. In 1910 there is this: DALY, GEORGE T (1910 U.S. Census) MASSACHUSETTS , SUFFOLK, 12-WD BOSTON Age: 42, Male, Race: WHITE, Born: MA Series: T624 Roll: 618 Page: 38 with a wife, Elizabeth, and a son, George E., 15. They seem to be running a large "rooming house" - many lodgers. They are in "Boston City." There are 3 other George DALY's in Suffolk Co. this year; one born in Maine. George and Elizabeth are still running the "rooming house" in 1920, and it is on Mass. Ave. Seems to be many "rooming houses" in that area. I checked in Boston -- 1885 - 1905. This is what comes up, and none of them have parents named George / Mary or George Elizabeth (1900+). Do you have the family in the 1900 / 1910 censuses? (If not, then you might want to post to the MA-census-lookup list.) I looked at "Daly" births in Boston during the time of his first marriage, but there are 249 options! Maybe someone with access to the censuses can locate the family for you, then we can work backwards from there, once we have some additional names to check?!
