I spoke with the elderly man again, his father did have a brother named Nicholas, I found them together in the 1920 census, in Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts. His real name was Arghelios, and variations of that, finally settling on Jerry, I know it's a stretch. Anyway, he was married in 1925, to a woman named Katherine Diamond, also from Greece. I found her name listed as Kalliopi Diamantopoulou in the Ellis Island records. So by 1930 they should be somewhere in Massachusetts, and possibly have at least one child. I know quite a bit about my gt grandfather and he was born here in the uk in Padiham (1869) he went to ma in 1903 and married an american lady from new jersey in either 1922 or 1923. I have located him on the census records for 1910, 1920 and 1930 and also in the city directories. I came to boston in september and toured round where he had lived,and i visited the town hall in beverly as I expected he would have married in Beverly as they were living there but there was no marriage record. I have since been told that the registry of vital records hold all the marriage records for 1922-1923 but they are not on line, so hence need someone who could go in and have a look for me.
