Hello, Many of you know that I have been trying to find descendants of .13. LEWIS siblings for 10 yrs. All but the oldest were born in MA in the 1880 to 1920 timeframe. And they all grew up in Stoneham. Over the years I have been lucky enough to find descendants of the majority of the siblings, and I was able to gather at least basic information on them after they married. * But, 4 of them I've had no luck with, brothers, Francis "Frank" and Edward LEWIS, and sisters, Henrietta "Etta" and Isabella "Betta" LEWIS. The main reason I haven't found descendants of Bella is that she died in childbirth with her 3rd child in 1923. Her husband was William PHELAN and they lived in Lynn. The baby survived, and William was raisisng them, but an older daughter died in an accident. (I hope I'm remembering correctly at 7 am.) "Etta" LEWIS married in ~1908 to William HUBER. He was in the service at the time, and they initially lived in Boston but shortly after moved to Cambridge. They had 3 children, William, Henrietta "May," and John. The 1930 census has them as teens. I haven't been able to do much genealogy for 2 yrs., but occasionally work on my brick-walls. This past week I checked at http://www.familysearch.org/ and found that Mrs. Henrietta HUBER had moved to Braintree and she was living with her son and daughter-in-law, William and Irene HUBER (1940). And then I discovered that her other son, John, and his wife, Wanda, were living in Quincy. I was not able to find out what happened to their sister, "May." I just posted on the Norfolk Co. List, and someone wrote to say she knew the families in past years and will try to help. Of the 2 LEWIS brothers, Edward "Eddie" married in 1910 to Maud Von DREATHEN. They seem to have had one son, Ernest LEWIS. From memory, Eddie might have died young, and Maud and the son might have moved to FL and possibly both died young, also. ..."Frank" had married "Bessie" (?) and they seem to have had 2 children, Dorothy and John. But Frank died of a heart attack in 1913. I was never able to find out what happened to Bessie. One FYI is that the father, John "Stanley" LEWIS (1859-1923) was a "newspaper man" and owned a printing shop in Stoneham for many years. Both the newspapers and his family called him a well-liked man. I have found out that many of his grandsons were named after him. Betty (near Lowell, MA) (on Lists and Boards for 11 yrs.; now an Admin for 10 Lists and 5 Boards) *Several yrs. ago I was able to type up an informal report on this large family. I made copies of it for all the descendants I had been able to find. They were grateful and provided a few more details for me. This past year I was able to find a little more information on Frank and Eddie LEWIS, but I don't have those notes handy. FYI: My husband and I are both fine. He is now 2 yrs. away from his major surgery, and he is 95% recovered. I've been avoiding doctors for 5 yrs., but this summer they found me. I had a few, minor health problems, only one of which was a scare, develop this past summer. All are now fixed or fixable, but it meant going back and forth to doctors to get everything settled. And, that's the main reason why I haven't posted much in the past 6 mos. The aggravating one is that my Osteoarthritis has gotten worse and I can no longer sit at my PC for more than an hour at a time. (Which is recommended anyways.) IF I were a rich woman, I would buy a very small laptop or tablet, and do my e-mailing and on-line research from -- the sofa ! :o) HAPPY HOLIDAYS !!!
