Hello theclown16, I am extremely grateful for all your research into Cornelius RANDOLPH. Certainly there is a huge amount of information that can be expanded into a Biography........which is the essential element of my PhD work on the juvenile offenders entering Parkhurst Prison between 1838-1864. However, my fear is that it will all come to nought unless we can establish his parentage. And that, of course, seems to be the fateful "brickwall" that so many genealogists meet in trying to substantiate a vital link. Hopefully someone can provide the magic demolition!! Thank you once again. I agree there are differing ages in years of birth in some of the records but as you also note this is not uncommon in records in this timeframe ~ for all sorts of reasons...... I would also say that "Millie" is likely a "petname" for Amelia? And, probably Henry was Henry John or vice-versa??? Have you tried to locate Cornelius' birth record in Wiltshire, England? Also his parents marriage, deaths? I had also found Cornelius and Mary Anne in the various US census, I also found several of their children's marriages.....have you tried researching Cornelius' sibling lines as sometimes these uncover additional information.. Thank you for all the help. I have searched for a John Randolph and his wife Millie (nee Black) through all the UK sources avalable on-line in the Trowbridge, Wiltshire, area and have a NIL result and am very inclined to your belief about "Millie" (Amelia) and John as John Henry or Henry John.........reminds me of a childhood song: There was a man who had two sons, and these two sons were brothers, the name of one was Henry John, John Henry was the other"!!!! Therefore on the balance of probabilities I am assuming Cornelius RANDOLPH was the son of Henry and Amelia, christened on 11/08/1833 at Steeple Ashton, near Trowbridge, Wiltshire, according to the IGI Individual Record. Incidentally, on the Ancestry "Family Trees" website there are references to other members of the family, with Cornelius quoted as a brother, but that is the only information given and no "leads" from that point. However, I might write to the subscriber in the New Year "just in case". Happy New Year and again I am very grateful.
