Just found this....have you had any contact with this researcher? http://records.ancestry.com/Cornelius_Randolph_records.ashx?pid=87462522 --- On Thu, 29/12/11, Peter & Janice Lodge <[email protected]> wrote: From: Peter & Janice Lodge <[email protected]> Subject: Re: [GENMASSACHUSETTS] Cornelius RANDOLPH, Born c1834, Wiltshire, England To: "Tony Cocks" <[email protected]> Cc: "GenMassachusetts Rootsweb" <[email protected]> Date: Thursday, 29, December, 2011, 4:12 PM On familysearch.org it has a birth record for a Cornelius Randolph born 11 August 1833, Steeple-Ashton, Wiltshire, England , parents Henry Randolph and Amelia [maiden name not given]. The actual image is not available. As you mention a Cornelius Randolph aged 7 is listed 1841 census Steeple-Ashton, Wiltshire, England with parents Henry and Amelia, plus siblings. I don't find them after that. If the DOB in the above birth record can be relied upon then it seems likely your Cornelius Randolph is this child as the 1900 US census for Wayland, Middlesex, Massachusetts shows Cornelius' DOB as August 1833....... This 1900 census shows Mary's DOB as Feb 1843. Various birth records for the children show Mary's maiden name to be Scully/Scolly/Scally etc. According to Index to New England Naturalization Petitions, 1791-1906 Cornelius Randolph was born England August 1842, Naturalized 1 Nov 1875, Residence: Wayland MA. I can't find his death record which I hoped would provide his parents. A Cornelius RANDOLPH, born c1834 in Wiltshire, England, may have migrated to Massachusetts in 1859 with his wife Mary. They had 7 children, all born in Wayland, Eliza 1862, Albert, 1864, Florence 1866, Mabel 1869, William 1872, Walter 1874 and Harry 1880. My main interest lies in the names of his parents, who may have been Henry and Amelia according to the 1841 England Census and lived in the Civil Parish of Steeple Ashton, Wiltshire. If I can establish that these are correct it may help in my PhD research on the treatment of juvenile offenders in Parkhurst Prison on the Isle of Wight 1838-1864. Thank you for the link, Janice. Unfortunately I do not have access to that particular Index in England, although I have a suspicion that the researcher is a Tom Randolph I found on another family website.......if so, I did email him but the address was obsolete. The parents shown by the link (John and Millie) differ from those quoted on the 1841 England Census and IGI (Henry and Amelia) and to make it a little more ackward the former are not quoted on the Census. It is a pity about the absence of death records. You mention that according to New England Naturalization Petitions Cornelius RANDOLPH was born August 1842. This confuses the issue somewhat, although are early American records notoriously inaccurate on ages as are English and Australian of the same vintage!? Incidentally, I notice your address is in NZ which is another area of research for me with the 123 Parkhurst Boys sent to Auckland in 1842 and 1843 on the "St. George" and "Mandarin".
