Hello,   For the 10 yrs. I've been on-line, and have done genealogy on-line,  I have wished I could afford the annual fee for becoming a member of NEHGS.     But, just have never been able to afford that $75 coming out of our budget, especially during January.       This month I have thought of something.     Wouldn't it be nice for many of us if NEHGS would offer us a payment-plan.     Hopefully  $7  per month.   I don't know if they continued this,  but  "Public Television" in Boston is now offering a "maintenance plan" where we can pay $5  per month to belong to  PBS-TV.   I mentioned this to a librarian last week,  and she made the comment that too many people would promise to send in $7 a month to NEHGS -  but then not continue doing that.     She misunderstood.     I meant that we could sign up to pay the $7 a month through  PAYPAL, or some other method.      That is fairly easy to do.   Please note that NEHGS  now has a new  URL for getting to their web site.     And, I just checked this year's membership fee, and see they have raised their price.    It is now ~$80  annually.   https://www.americanancestors.org/membershipproduct.aspx   Betty           (near Lowell, MA)   (on Lists for 10 yrs.;   now an Admin for 9 Lists, including  CAN-USA-Migration, NewEngland-Societies, etc.)   www.rootsweb.com Find a List   or new feature:    Search the archives of all the Lists for your ancestor

Betty,  I agree with you about NEHGS, I think more people would be inclined to join if they offered such a payment plan.  Maybe $10 per month for 8 months, or something that is reasonable for us poor folk!  I too am not able to join, but do enjoy the few times they have offered 'free' access for a weekend.
