    3. Hi! I am looking to find out where the records for the St. Augustine church in south Boston has gone too? Looking for records from 1880-1910. I heard that the church closed. Also what transportation was available in 1880 from First st area by castle island -south Boston to St. Augustine or would they have walked. Thank you all for your help Michelle

    3. Michelle - The person you need to speak to is the Archives Manager, Robert Johnson-Lally. He can be reached at 617-746-5795. The archives were sometimes sent to neighboring churches. Mr. Johnson-Lally is a very pleasant person, but he is a one-man operation. He would prefer that you put things in writing to him. If he has the records, and you can be patient, he will most likely dig them out for you. If he does not have the records, has the records of where they were sent to, and how to contact those people. He spent a couple of hours about six months ago working with a group of amateur genealogists. He is all there is at the archdiocese in Boston. Be patient with him, he gets hundreds of requests. Give him all the information you have. Don't give him bits and pieces, give it all. Too much is far better for him to work with.
