Thank you, Dale. I checked the FHL catalog but didn't find anything. Is there any way to check on land grants from the king of England to people in Mass.? I am skeptical of that story. For one thing I have seen a map of (what is now) Sharon with land owners' names from about 1700; all the land seemed to be taken, but no HIXSON. Presumably if the king granted someone land, it would be land that no one of British descent was living on. But I would like to find out for sure. Carol B.
