Hello, I've been working on the FITZGERALD family-tree for 1 1/2 yrs. for family-friends. I was able to get a good outline of their ancestors. But, for the older generation, their estranged grandfather was a mystery. Just this week I found him and his 2nd wife as living their last years in Bourne, MA. I do not yet know how long they lived there, but they lived long lives. Michael FITZGERALD, b1882 in Boston, had first married Ella BLAKELY of Medford, MA, and they had 2 sons. But they seem to have separated ~1915. The 1920 census had Mrs. Ella FITZGERALD and her children in Cambridge and have "Jack" KELLEY living with them. I do not know if they officially married, but they had children together during the 1920's. No one has been able to find Michael from 1920 on. There was a possibility he lived in Boston for a few years. He was definitely estranged from his family, but his granddaughters had heard that he had married a much younger woman. This week I have found out that his 2nd wife was Miss Frances DANE, b1913 in Malden. And, she seems to be about 30 yrs. younger than her husband. This morning I looked on-line and found out that Frances had the parents: Leonard J. DANE and Elizabeth LAXTON. And, Leonard was from a Westford family and born ~1885. (Elizabeth was probably from NH.) The Westford Historical Society has information on this DANE family. I looked on the WorldConnect Project and there is a researcher studying this family, and they have Leonard and Elizabeth having a son, Lewis DANE, born later. I was wondering if anyone is researching this DANE family and might have further information on Mrs. Frances (DANE) FITZGERALD. I'm curious whether she and Michael had children. Yesterday I e-mailed the Bourne Public Library to ask if they could try to find the obituaries for the couple. Betty (near Lowell, MA)
