Peleg was a descendant of John Alden (Peleg Wadsworth, Mercy Wiswall, Priscilla Pabodie, Elizabeth Alden, John Alden). Peleg's wife was Elizabeth Bartlett, a descendant of John Howland (Elizabeth Lathrop, Elizabeth Gorham, James Gorham, Desire Howland, John Howland). Peleg was of Duxbury, and Elizabeth of Plymouth, when their intention was published at Plymouth 09-May-1772 [MD 27:45; Plymouth VR 260]. They were also listed as of those towns when they were married 18-Jun-1772 [Plymouth VR 360; Duxbury VR 326]. Note that there are other Mayflower surnames in the ancestry of this couple, including Samson and Bartlett, which indicate there may be other Mayflower ancestors for the poet. Dale H.
