Try looking for a Lydia Smith in the census to see if that might be a possibility. The name Lydia is reasonably different that you might be able to find her a little easier. And then of course, it may not have anything to do with your Albert Smith at all. Charlestown and Cambridge share a border, so it is worth looking into anyway. I looked through birth records and it appears they had a son who was named Albert as well, but it looks like he may have died in 1845 at 5 months old. They then have listed a birth in 1848 of an Albert T Smith to Lydia and Albert Smith. I don't see a John C. Smith connected to them. The closest John C Smith I see is born in 1846 in Roxbury MA to a Peter and Maryann Smith. SO, I guess where I'm going with this is that the name John Smith is pretty common. Work your way back to the last census where you definetly find him and let's see where that gets you. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
