Hello, This morning's "MassMoments" e-mail has a story about Miss Emily Greene BALCH who was born in Jamaica Plain to a prosperous family. She went to college at a time when most women could not attend college. To go up to 1946, her accomplishments in her devotion to "world peace" were recognized when she was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. She was the 2nd woman to receive the award; the first was Jane ADDAMS. http://www.massmoments.org:80/moment.cfm?mid=2 http://nobelprize.org/nobel_prizes/peace/laureates/1946/balch-bio.html (her brief biography and picture) FYI: http://www.brynmawr.edu/ http://www.brynmawr.edu/character/history.shtml It's in PA and was started by a Physician. http://www.brynmawr.edu/character/history_and_mission.shtml Just an FYI for you.
