    3. Hello, Someone on the QC-ETANGLO List just mentioned the new feature "Google / News." Out of curiousity, I did a search there for: "KERR, HENDERSON," and found some interesting things. One was a 1907 newspaper article about a horse race, where a Dion KERR from Washington was participating on his horse, Essex. http://news.google.com/archivesearch?q=Kerr,+Henderson&num=10&as_price=p0&hl=en&sa=N&start=40 It mentions the "Myopia Steeplechase." And, less than 3 mos. later, horse is killed and rider hurt: http://query.nytimes.com/gst/abstract.html?res=9D06E0D8163EE233A25750C0A96F9C946697D6CF There is a brief statement about the history of that on a 1999 article in the U.K.: Did I say Myopia? I kid you not. I'd better throw in at once that Myopia was a club founded more than a hundred years ago to stage an annual horse show, polo match and steeplechase. But like many another polo club it tumbled out of business during the Great Depression and afterwards was crafted into an interesting and notable golf course. It kept the original name - Myopia - which was chosen by the three founding members because they had an affliction in common - they were all near-sighted. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/programmes/letter_from_america/386645.stm I also saw a "Myopia Hunt" in Boston mentioned. http://www.norfolkhunt.com/nov2003.htm I see another 1903 article mentioning a race that Dion KERR was in; he must have involved with horse races for quite a while. In fact, other articles show both he and his wife were "breeders" up through 1930's ?? http://www.bloodhorse.com/articleindex/article.asp?id=32144 (I'm not finding a biography for Dion K. KERR.) In this Google / News search, I see men with names, such as James Henderson KERR, or Thomas Kerr HENDERSON. The reason I'm mentioning these names is that my ancestors were part of a family-group arriving in Canada in 1823-1825, and settling in the Province of Quebec. I am descended from 2 couples: William and Mary (KERR) HENDERSON and Patrick and Elizabeth (KERR?) KERR, through their children, Robert KERR and Elizabeth HENDERSON, both born 1827. Stay warm ! Betty (near Lowell, MA) P.S. On the other side of my family-tree, I have Francis MOORE arriving in the MA Bay Colony in 1630's and settling in Cambridge. When I read about his descendants, I believe I read that some of his property which stayed with his son, Francis, Jr., eventually became a place for horse races.
