Hello, In this morning's "Lowell Sun," there is a small article mentioning the "275th Anniversary" of the Town of Tewksbury. www.lowellsun.com It starts out: "Once upon a time, in a community, named Billerica, a group of people decided they wanted their own town. So they wrote a petition, pushed it through Town Meeting, had it signed by the governor and named the new territory after the far-away town of Tewkesbury, England. ..... Now, Tewksbury.. is celebrating its 275th birthday. ...... The festivities which will span all of 2009 begin this weekend ....." The events are discussed on the site for the Tewksbury Historical Society: http://www.tewksburyhistoricalsociety.org/ FYI: http://www.tewksbury.net/ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tewksbury,_Massachusetts Betty (near Lowell, MA) ( interested in NEW-ENGLAND-MEMORIES ?) ( I believe a KIDDER family was part of the group which decided to annex off of Billerica and start Tewksbury.) http://www.tewksburyhistoricalsociety.org/Archives/books/index.html It looks like one "history of Tewksbury" is on-line at Google / Books: http://books.google.com/books?id=hNaAnwRMedUC&pg=PA375&lpg=PA375&dq=%22history+of+Tewksbury%22&source=web&ots=Rn361EVd0L&sig=Nc7wl6La5905Tg-XnwId_cG-jN4&hl=en&sa=X&oi=book_result&resnum=2&ct=result OOOPS ...
