Author: treefind4fun Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.massachusetts.unknown/7542.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hello, Howard, I found a few items of interest for you, although I didn't quite solve the mystery of Howard Byron Sederquist. You may be surprised to know that Howard Byron Sederquest and his second wife Annie Pellerin, had a stillborn son born November 2, 1914 in Portland, Maine. http://search.ancestry.com/iexec?htx=View&r=an&dbid=1960&iid=31515_204135-11864&fn=Sultbron&ln=Sederguest&st=r&ssrc=&pid=1975028 On the record, Howard is listed as living at 256 Park Avenue, and is a cook. Howard's first marriage, to Josephine Sophia Benoit, took place 29 Nov 1911 in Manchester, NH. She was the daughter of Paul Benoit and Mary/Onesime Lameraux. https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FDKM-GR2 Josephine was born 24 July 1891 in Lowell, Massachusetts. She is listed as Josephine Benway on that record. https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-266-11020-120198-36?cc=1536925&wc=11695190 At first, it appeared that Josephine went back to live with her parents after she left Howard Byron Sederquist. She is with them on the 1920 census in Manchester, NH. But this is really strange. Look at http://search.ancestry.com/Browse/view.aspx?dbid=8775&path=Manchester.1919.S.9&sid=&gskw= and at http://search.ancestry.com/browse/view.aspx?dbid=8775&iid=NH-Manchester-NH-1920-0387830&rc=1256,645,1468,693;1858,643,2053,684&pid=47451&ssrc=&fn=how*&ln=sed*&st=g and also at http://search.ancestry.com/browse/view.aspx?dbid=8775&iid=NH-Manchester-NH-1921-0414830&rc=406,710,617,760;1007,715,1205,756&pid=48150&ssrc=&fn=how*&ln=sed*&st=g We find Josephine Sederquist, widow Howard B Sederquist, living in Manchester NH in 1919, 1920 and 1921 Same in 1924 http://search.ancestry.com/browse/view.aspx?dbid=8775&iid=NH-Manchester-NH-1924-0445830&rc=1198,3142,1411,3191;1802,3141,2007,3182&pid=48907&ssrc=&fn=how*&ln=sed*&st=g That address, 314 Central, in Manchester, is exactly the same as the address where we find her living with her parents on the 1920 census, under the name Josephine Benoit. http://search.ancestry.com/Browse/view.aspx?dbid=6061&path=New Hampshire.Hillsborough.Manchester Ward 6.103.3&sid=&gskw=Josephine S Benoit Could Howard have disappeared after the death of his child? What would he be doing at sea? Was he involved in WWI? In that short window between 1914 and 1919, could he have left Annie, gone back to Josephine, enlisted in the army or Navy, and died in combat? He is not listed in the 1916 Manchester directory The 1917 directory for Mancester is missing on Ancestry. This is a tough one. Some other information for reference... Paul Benoit, born about 1854 in New Hampshire, died 25 Dec 1930 in Manchester, NH. He was the son of Trueman Benoit and Mary ____ (Trueman might not be the correct spelling.) See: https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FSFK-428 Onesime Benoit, born 1854, died 19 Jul 1926 in Manchester, NH. https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-267-12397-25437-69?cc=1601211&wc=MMBR-WZD:n1626429322 Her father is listed as Alexander Lamoureux. I don't think the mother's name is correctly spelled. Need more research. That's all I have. I hope it helps. MR Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: franmalone39 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.massachusetts.unknown/7206.3/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Best guess! The John Francis Fitzgerald that married Hazel was born in Boston, Mass. on Sep. 15, 1911. The parents were James and Margaret M. (Leahy) Fitzgerald. James the father was born in Ireland and Margaret was born in Boston. By the 1930 Census Margaret was a widow and residing with her were her two sons James age 20 and John age 18 according to the Census report. The 1940 Census that shows John married to Hazel indicates that John was born 1911. Going back to the 1920 Census and John F. Fitzgerald was 8 yrs old but the census was taken in January 1920 so this would indicate John F. Fitzgerald was born in 1911. The brother James was 10 yrs old which indicates his birth year as 1909. The mother Margaret M. Fitzgerald was a widow in the 1920 Census. Looking at the Mass. Vital Records up to the year of 1915 and I couldn't find anything for a death on James married to a Margaret. This would narrow your search down for a death certificate on James that would be bet! ween 1915 and Decemeber 31, 1919. As I said "best guess" but I do believe this could be the parents of your John Francis Fitzgerald. Fran Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: sedy83 Surnames: Sederquist Sederquest Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.massachusetts.unknown/7542/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am Howard Austin Sederquist (b.1946) and my father was Howard Augustus Sederquist (b.1912 d.2003). I have found my name spelled all of these ways and, we come from the John Sederquest/Anne Lorna Henderson line from New Brunswick/Nova Scotia Canada. I have many questions about my relatives. For the entire time I was growing up, there was never any mention of anyone on my father's side of the family. It seemed they didn't exist. After I retired, I got curious and started searching. Many things I have found and many more questions remain. 1) I was told that my grandfather, Howard Byron Sederquist (b.1889 d.1915?), was lost at sea while my father was an infant. Does anyone have any info as to where or when? 2) I was told that my grandmother, Josephine Sophia Benoit (b.1891) abandoned her family, and moved to Canada. What ever happened to her? 3) After Josephine Sophia Benoit left, (was there ever a divorce or did she die?), Howard Byron Sederquist married Annie M Pellerin (b.1891) on 28 Sep 1914. 4) Annie M Pellerin married Harvey Dolan Sederquist (b.1889 d.1970) on 22 Nov 1915. 5) This means Howard Byron Sederquist must have drowned after his marriage to Annie M Pellerin. 6) That's right, Howard Byron Sederquist and Harvey Dolan Sederquist were twins, and Annie M Pellerin married both of them! 7) Annie M Pellerin and Harvey Dolan Sederquist moved to Portland, Maine. 8) After Howard Byron Sederquist died, it seems that Annie M Pellerin, my father's stepmother, didn't want anything to do with him so he was taken in by John William Sederquist (b.1875 d.1940) and his wife, Mattie E Harmon (b.1876 d.1947) and raised as their own son. I don't think anything was done legally because back in those days, if the kid's name was Sederquist and the parents' name was Sederquist, nobody asked any questions. 9) John William Sederquist, Harvey Dolan Sederquist and Howard Byron Sederquist were all sons of Henderson Sederquist (b.1834 d.1899) and Mary Elizabeth McGrath (b.1851 d.1941). If anyone can help me sort out this "soap opera" I would be very appreciative. Many thanks in advance! Howard Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
