I hope the following records help but maybe you found some of them already so sorry if repeats. NEHGS Vol. 421 pg 721 Elsie Clarinda Young, born Sept. 3, 1892, West Springfield, Hampden County, MA, Mulberry Street, parents-Lewis and Sofie Young, parents residing in West Springfield, father a brakeman born in Camden, Maine and mother born in Stockholm Sweden. NEHGS Vol. 517, pg 182 Sofie (Benson) Young wife of Lewis E. Young died March 28, 1901, Springfield, Hampden County, MA., female, married, age 33y, cyst of ovary & exhaustion following operation, died in Springfield residing and buried in West Springfield, MA., housewife, born in Sweden, father's name is not listed and appears unknown but mother was Johannah Pearson, both parents born Sweden. NEHGS Vol. 525 pg 195 Lewis E. Young married Lillian M. (Forward) Tracy on Sept 3 1902, in Springfield, MA.; he is 36y, second marriage (widower), residing 4 Irving st., an engineer B&A, born in Camden, Maine, parents- John W. Young and Lidy Richards, married by Rev. D. Butler Pratt 50 Summer Ave. Springfield. Lillian is 31y, second marriage (widow), residing in W. Springfield, a dressmaker, born Pittsfield, MA., parents- John Forward and Hester Tuggey. In 1910 census you will find Lewis E. Young (transcribed as Louise E. Young at ancestry.com 1867 Maine) in Agawam, Hampden County, MA. Lewis E. Young(43) , Lillian M. Young(38), Eva M. Young(20), Elsie C. Young(18), Lillian S. Young (6), Mary L. Tracy (19), and Ethel Tracy (14) In 1920 census is Lewis, Lillian, M. & Lillian S. still in Agawam. Lillian May Forward born March 15 1871 in Pittsfield, Berkshire County, MA (NEHGS 232/63) Lillian May Forward married Walter H. Tracy Nov 28 1888 in Hinsdale, Berkshire County, Ma. (NEHGS 388/44) Walter H.Tracey died Dec 17 1897 in West Springfield age 30 of continued malarial fever and laryngitis, died 4 Irving St. buried Oak Grove cemetery, a railroad fireman. (NEHGS 472/827) Mary Louise Tracy born March 23,1890 Hinsdale, Berkshire County, MA (NEHGS 403/43) Ethel Tracy born July 28, 1896 in West Springfield, Hampden County, MA. (NEHGS 457/800) There may have been more children , I didn't look because didn't know if this was important to you. You mentioned Elsie's married name as Lowell and I wouldn't have found her without that info and find her in 1920 census in Agawam, Hampden county, Ma. and 1930 census in Palmer, Hampden County, MA. with husband Eugene P. Lowell (b.1887 Ma.) and son Robert E. (1913, MA.) Found WWI Draft registration (1917) for Eugene Parker Lowell living in Agawam, Hampden county, Ma. born Aug 11, 1886 in Somerville, MA. and has wife and 1 child. In 1942 WWII Draft Registration Eugene Parker Lowell is living at 212 Grove St. Rutland, Vermont and Elsie is listed on the record as also living there. From that birth date, I found that Eugene died March 14, 1975 in Mount Dora, Lake County, Florida. (sources Florida death index and SSDI). Then I found Elsie's death May 16, 1985, Jacksonville, Duval County, Florida (Florida death index and SSDI) Robert Eugene Lowell was born June 24, 1912 in Springfield, Ma. and I am sorry to tell you that I find he died March 7, 2008 in Cheshire, New Haven County, Connecticut (SSDI). In doing a search for his obituary I see that one is written in the Cheshire Herald (http://www.cheshireherald.com/) on March 13, 2008 but you have to pay to see the whole article. If you ask someone who lives in that area they may be able to get it for you at their library for free or try e-mailing the library and ask if they can help you (http://www.cheshirelib.org/ ). Now for Louis Benson. I have not found any conclusive evidence but there is a Louis Benson (43y)I am suspicious of in West Springfield, MA. in the 1910 census (only because he was there in 1900) married to a Lotta M. (28y) for 8 years so married about 1902. She states she is the mother of 1 with 0 living. I should be able to find that marriage record but I can't. I did find the child though ,a stillborn male death certificate Sept 29, 1904. It states Benson child, residence and death at 51 Spring st, Merrick, Ma. , male, father Louis Benson born Sweden and Lotta M. Loomis born West Springfield buried Sept. 30, 1904 in White church cemetery West Springfield. Note on certificate is "this child was born dead at least 24 hours before birth". I haven't found them after this as of yet. I think I see your Eva Young in the 1920 census in Cambridge, Ma. Ward 5 as a lodger. The census is blurry but I think she is an operator. This Eva is born Nebraska (1891) and parents born Maine and Sweden so other than date off a few years look like her. Do you know anymore info about Louis? Do you have exact birthdates or parents names? Are you sure of the Peter Benson you saw in Iowa because there are so many? There is one in Buckland, Franklin County, MA. born in Aug 1860 in Sweden and married Jan 1890 in Buckland to Augusta Johnson also of Sweden . They appear to have had several children. His parents are listed as Benjohn and Annie Benson on his marriage record. Linda Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 3. Hi list, for those with ancestors in England the Yesterdays site has thousands of persons who appear in official documents as found in the County of Derbyshire. Countless numbers of those persons were not born in the County but appear in those records. Some with a connection to Settlement, moving into a new village or town. Others appear in Bastardy Warrants as they are named by pregnant mothers as being the father to their as yet unborn child, or a child recently born. Rogues and Vagabonds came from all over Britain, duly whipped they were sent on their way. The document tells you where to. There is a vast array of iformation under Law and Order, plus mamy many other details to be gleaned from Board of Guardians, Wills, Apprenticeships and others . Yesterdays link is below. mike -- http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~spire/Yesterday/index.htm

    1. [GENMASSACHUSETTS] Tewksbury and "275th" - Events Today
    2. Betty
    3. Hello, In this morning's "Lowell Sun," there is a small article mentioning the "275th Anniversary" of the Town of Tewksbury. www.lowellsun.com It starts out: "Once upon a time, in a community, named Billerica, a group of people decided they wanted their own town. So they wrote a petition, pushed it through Town Meeting, had it signed by the governor and named the new territory after the far-away town of Tewkesbury, England. ..... Now, Tewksbury.. is celebrating its 275th birthday. ...... The festivities which will span all of 2009 begin this weekend ....." The events are discussed on the site for the Tewksbury Historical Society: http://www.tewksburyhistoricalsociety.org/ FYI: http://www.tewksbury.net/ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tewksbury,_Massachusetts Betty (near Lowell, MA) ( interested in NEW-ENGLAND-MEMORIES ?) ( I believe a KIDDER family was part of the group which decided to annex off of Billerica and start Tewksbury.) http://www.tewksburyhistoricalsociety.org/Archives/books/index.html It looks like one "history of Tewksbury" is on-line at Google / Books: http://books.google.com/books?id=hNaAnwRMedUC&pg=PA375&lpg=PA375&dq=%22history+of+Tewksbury%22&source=web&ots=Rn361EVd0L&sig=Nc7wl6La5905Tg-XnwId_cG-jN4&hl=en&sa=X&oi=book_result&resnum=2&ct=result OOOPS ... It's the "history of Middlesex County" .... * By the way, I wonder why no one has ever written a "history of Littleton, MA." The library there refers you to the above book. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Littleton,_Massachusetts

    3. Hello all, Many thanks to all of you that responded so generously to my request.I really appreciate the information. Dianne, thanks so much for that obit, I have not seen that one. I should have posted this request long ago! Spencer was my husband's maternal great grandfather. His father, Nicholas Alessandre Apollonio, was the registrar to the city of Boston from 1854 to 1891. Strangely enough, there is much that I don't know about NA, and as Sue noted, he himself was a friend to genealogists.A Google search of NA's name shows mostly his signature on other couples' marriage certificates! NA had three marriages, but Spencer's mother Rhoda, his second wife, has been swept out of the biography entry in Boston To-day by Richard Herndon, altogether. Thank you again Maria

    1. [GENMASSACHUSETTS] "Orphan Trains"
    2. Betty
    3. Hello, Someone on the "Orphan Trains" List just mentioned that there is a documentary on PBS about the "Orphan Trains." I just went to the web site and found it mentioned: http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/amex/orphan/ For people who know about that part of the US history, you might think that it was all about New York City. But, upon reading the book, "Boston's Wayward Children," I found out that the "movement" actually started in Boston. When NYC officials found out about it, they started it. As I understand it, the majority of the not-well-cared-for children in Boston were sent to farms in northern New England, including Maine. But, some were sent to farms in the mid-west. But, NYC officials sent their "needy children" -- all over the country ! There is also a movie about the Orphan Trains, and I'll try to find the name of it. I think Glenn Close had a part in it. Betty (near Lowell, MA) ( Anyone interested in: NEW-ENGLAND-MEMORIES ? ) *** We may have arrived on different ships but we're all in the same boat now. :o) (thinking genealogy) (possibly first said by Martin Luther King, Jr.)

Apollonio, City Registrar of Boston for forty years Boston, Oct.30th - Nicholas A. In early life he removed to New York City and became known through his newspaper writings, under the cognomen of "Seekright," the New York Spirit of the times. These articles were copied in the London papers of that day. He came to Boston in 1845 and became the editor of the Youth's Guide.
