According to the SSDI Solomon Parsons died in March of 1968 at Manchester, Ma. Is there any easy way to find out the day he died?
When I encountered a similar situation with SSDI information that did not give an exact date of death, I contacted the place where the death took place to obtain a copy of the death certificate. Hello, I haven't mentioned this man in a while, but I'm thinking about him this morning. I'm curious if anyone knows about this Podiatrist in Cambridge, who was a doctor in Cambridge possibly up to 1960. I'm pretty sure that I wrote to the Cambridge Historical Society a year or 2 ago, and asked if they had any information on him. And, I believe they said, they did not. Leslie "Loring" HUTCHINSON was part of the large, extended family of the HUTCHINSON Farm in what is now Winchester, MA. It was very large during the mid-1800's, but pieces were starting to be sold off during the late 1800's. The families became "land rich and money poor." * I've mentioned these ancestors many times for many years, so I'll just offer a brief summary. George HUTCHINSON (and a brother) arrived in MA in the 1630's on "the Winthrop Fleet," and had his only child shortly after arriving. Oops. Can't think of his name at this second, but this son married and had children, and they lived in Charlestown. Eventually, a Thomas HUTCHINSON bought land in what was then Woburn in 1720's. The area became Winchester in the mid-1800's. 6 siblings grew up on the large Farm from 1815 to 1850 when 3 of the married siblings moved to Brooklyn, NY. Jacob and Thomas remained on the 2 farmhouses, and Jacob is my ancestor (1818-1897). Jacob and Eliza (CROSBY) HUTCHINSON had 3 children, but one daughter died as a teen. Son, George, married twice, but only had one son, Carleton Homer HUTCHINSON. Carleton also married twice, and had 2 children with his first wife. His son was the Leslie "Loring" HUTCHINSON mentioned above. It took me many years to find out who Loring married and whether he had children. It was only a few years ago when I found out that he had only one child, a son, Robert HUTCHINSON. Unfortunately, I didn't find out until 2 yrs. after Robert had been killed in a car accident. (He lived in Ayer, and saw his gravestone last week.) For several reasons, we have very old pictures of George, Carleton, and then Robert. But, no one seems to have a picture of "Loring." And, Jacob's brother, Thomas, only had 2 children, Thomas and Mary - who both never married. We have a picture of the son, Thomas. (I am descended from Jacob and Eliza's daughter, Adelaide Crosby (HUTCHINSON) RICE (1851-1928), my great-great-grandmother. She only had 2 daughters, and I have pictures of Mrs. Louise KIDDER and Miss Edith Crosby RICE.) Betty (near Lowell, MA) (There were 2 generations of divorces on that Farm, both siblings, George and Adelaide, and then Carleton. And, I believe that Carleton was estranged from his son and daughter. Even though his son was a doctor in Cambridge, and they were both alive in 1960's, I just found out last year that Carleton was buried in a paupers' grave in Medford. His son is buried in Mount Auburn Cemetery.)

I have subscribed for several years. At first it was very difficult to search the various data bases and I didn't find a thing. Now they have improved the search system and I still can't find anything. It is probably "user error" but dog gone it I sure wish some of my New England ancestors would show up some place. It is a lot of money to spend without success. I've been on-line, and have done genealogy on-line, I have wished I could afford the annual fee for becoming a member of NEHGS. But, just have never been able to afford that $75 coming out of our budget, especially during January. This month I have thought of something. Wouldn't it be nice for many of us if NEHGS would offer us a payment-plan. Hopefully $7 per month. I don't know if they continued this, but "Public Television" in Boston is now offering a "maintenance plan" where we can pay $5 per month to belong to PBS-TV. I mentioned this to a librarian last week, and she made the comment that too many people would promise to send in $7 a month to NEHGS - but then not continue doing that. She misunderstood. I meant that we could sign up to pay the $7 a month through PAYPAL, or some other method. That is fairly easy to do. Please note that NEHGS now has a new URL for getting to their web site. And, I just checked this year's membership fee, and see they have raised their price. It is now ~$80 annually. https://www.americanancestors.org/membershipproduct.aspx Betty (near Lowell, MA) (on Lists for 10 yrs.; now an Admin for 9 Lists, including CAN-USA-Migration, NewEngland-Societies, etc.) www.rootsweb.com Find a List or new feature: Search the archives of all the Lists for your ancestor ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to [email protected] with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to [email protected] with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
