Jacob Baker launched his eponymous business in 1925 or 1927&mdashcounts differ--selling his shoes wholesale to mom-and-pop stores from the rear of his brother's shoe factory in Spencer, Massachusetts. Now was his brother the one that started using the baker name and he followed suit or was he still a goldstein I have no clue but will look into it but with 2 last names to look into it won't be easy to verify I have the right person, but I will go by the assumption he was born in russia the oldest child and not living with his mom in 1900 Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. However she must have known who the father was to call her Richards. We've ordered the birth cert but are awaiting its arrival. Now of course Susannah seems to have a sister named Sarah Ellen, it just keeps getting more confusing for us too! Maybe Charlotte Jones married a man named Richards before Edward Davies, but we can't find a marriage. Once she married Edward Davies they had 4 daughters & we can account for 3 of them as one was my grandmother. And my understanding from my mother was that the 4th & oldest one Mary E, who she called Ella, married an American named Colin Campbell & lived in the US. I have this photo with who I thought were the 4 sisters standing on the front row when Ella & C! olin came to Brymbo for a visit sometime in the 1930's. Llewelyn Davies was unlikely to have been related to Edward Davies. On the 1871 Wales census Susannah Richards is down as step daughter aged 4 & b in Brymbo. Hope this clears up some of the confusion for you?? Thanks very much for Mary's marr info. Rosalyn Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. In the 1942 Attleboro directory, Colin, Sarah E and Colina A are all listed. In 1944, Sarah is listed as the widow of Colin, so Colin likely died in 1942. Had he died in 1943, the date of death would have been listed in the 1944 directory. The home, btw, was 179 Commonwealth Ave, Attleboro Falls. Sarah and Colina both appear in the 1946 directory. Unfortunately, the next available online is 1949, and neither Sarah nor Colina are listed. So, I would suggest that you send an email to the Attleboro Public Library --> http://www.sailsinc.org/attleboro/ques.asp The library has both city directories and newspapers. Ask if they can check the directories for 1947 and 1948 for Sarah Campbell. I suspect they will either find a date of death, or that Sarah has moved. If she had moved to a new town, they would publish that in the following year's directory. If the librarian can find a date of death, they could then perhaps look for an obituary in the newspaper. Colina appears to have married to a gentleman named Johnson. Here is her birth record from 1905 --> https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.2/M6MC-GG7/p_11288093428 And here is a Social Security death record for 2006... Social Security Death Index about Colina A. Pastor Jim Rogers will officiate and interment will follow. Colina "Mitzie" Johnson was born August 1, 1905 in Dedham, Mass. to Colin and Mary Campbell. She worked as a Payroll Account Manager for the United States Navy in Guam and then in a bank in Massachusetts. Colina married Axel Walter Johnson in Bangkok, Thailand in May of 1950. She enjoyed knitting, modeling for Strathmore Town & Country Club and was an avid golfer until age 85. Colina was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her husband, Axel and by her four sisters. According to the 1900 Census, she was born in Pennsylvania, but it doesn't specify a town or city. I did a quick search yesterday for a marriage or death, but had no luck. Either one of those records should provide better information. I am a little confused, though. Susannah Richards married Llewellyn Davies and had 7'ish children. Are you saying that Susannah's mother also married a Davies (Edward)? John Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. We thought Colin Campbell had married Mary Ellen Davies who was Susannah's step sister we think. No wonder I couldn't find his marriage to a Mary E Davies! The photo we have says Ella & Colin Campbell. Also he moved around a bit & since I don't know the area I didn't connect him with Dedham for instance. We didn't know that Susannah had anymore siblings as we only found her on the 1871 Wales census down as step daughter, so we thought her mother had had an illegitimate child before she married Edward Davies. Now we'll have to rethink things, & certainly send for Susannah's birth cert. I can't find the mother marrying anyone named Richards before she married Edward Davies & I can't find a Sarah Ellen Richards born around where they came from. So the plot thickens! We'll solve it though! Thanks for all you've sent me it's just wonderful info. I can see I'll be here on the computer all evening now! Is there anyway we can find Colin's marriage to Sarah Ellen Richards?? It should tell us her parents' names on a marriage cert. We thought her mother was Charlotte Jones before she married & they had a dau named Charlotte so it possibly was. Well many thanks again for all the info, it's got us running in larger circles now!!
