Are there any Walpoles left in Milford MA? My greatgrandfather, Michael Walpole keft Milford after his wife, Mary Cannon, died and he moved his family to Chicago. I cannot find when he arrived in Milford from Ireland or what possessed him to move so far away, but if any Walpoles are still there, maybe they know. Thanks for any help. Pat Keenan

I did a bit of a search on genealogybank.com ~ there are a few newspaper items in the late 1890s regarding a Dennis Sheehan...seems to have been victim of something. I can't access the item and the preview isn't coming up so not sure. Maybe someone might do a look up for you [you need subscription]. Good luck with this one! Ella had another family with her 2nd husband. the Daniel Sheehan you found might not be the Dennis i am looking for, I have also seen this record. Dennis's parents where Dennis & Catherine. Also as you say Josephine lived with her paternal grandparents [listed 1900] and then in 1910, they, including Josephine, lived with Albert & Laura Washburn, obviously Laura Washburn was Laura Peart. I think you are probably onto it with your scenario. With Josephine Peart living with her paternal grandparents I'm wondering if Ella Schuyler [Frank N.Peart's 1st wife] died, that might explain how Frank and Margaret got together? Maybe Frank and Margaret didn't marry but it seems odd if they didn't why Margaret used Peart in the 1910 census when she and Frank weren't even living together..... I did find a death record for a Daniel Sheehan born Ireland about 1850 who died 16 June 1888 in Boston MA, parents Michael and Mary. The record says he was married but does not record any spouse name....maybe this is your Daniel Sheehan? Janice Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Also I found a Dennis Sheehan on the 1885 Boston Directory - laborer is occupation, lives at 54 Decatur Charlestown, MA further proving Anna's birth in Charlestown, MA I then looked for a Dennis Sheehan death - nothing - again there are no Charlestown death records - something messed up with database. You could ask Archives to look that up also, and like I said if they can't help you because they're shorthanded - let me know Margaret Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I have taken every comment on board. Now I think I know whats going on with the Peart/Sheehan family/mystery. I have decided to put together a wee tree on ancestry and checked out records on lds. Just to keep them altogether. It appears Frank N Peart married in 1882 to Ella T Scoullar. They had 3 children, 2 died and 1 lived with her grand-parents in 1900 census. By the looks of it Frank & Ella divorced and she remarried in 1894. One of their children died in March 1887, so I am guessing they were still together at this time. So what I am guessing is -- Frank & Margaret did NOT marry. Margaret did marry Daniel Sheehan and had a child Anna. (but still cant find a birth record) but I have email MA Archives as Margaret suggested. Margaret & Frank Peart maybe have lived together for a while and who ever filled out the census just put Peart down has Margaret's name. This might explained why Anna put down Sheehan/Peart on her marriage as she too might have been confused.. What do you all think??? Messages posted on the Rootsweb and Ancestry Massachusetts message boards are automatically gatewayed to the Rootsweb GenMassachusetts mailing list. You are not seeing 30+ notifications about one message. You are seeing 30+ notifications about 30+ different messages posted in about 24 hours in the topic "I have a problem with info from a Marriage Cert... Really need help..." It is a very active topic this weekend, with four people contributing to a lively discussion. It will probably die down over the next 24 hours. Dale H. There's a marriage June 28, 1882 Frank Peart b Manchester, MA 19 engraver to Ella Scouler 16. It might be 'farfetched' but maybe on the census it got messed up - his wife never got listed with him and Margaret and Anna did??? Margaret married Daniel Sheehan in 1884 Boston MA. But I cant find any death record or census info on Daniel. If she had married Frank Peart in 1884 going by census she was 13 years old. There are no marriage records of Frank Peart to Margaret that I can find. In Anna's marriage she stated as father Frank Sheehan and Mother Margaret Peart... Also I found 2 Frank Peart's living in MA, both stating they where born New Hampshire. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. There have been staffing cuts so it may take awhile. http://www.sec.state.ma.us/arc/ - that's the link for Archives index - click on the middle of the screen 'online databases' next screen click on index to Vital records next screen scroll down and click on search next screen put in the info you want if you leave name fields blank put in town = Charlestown start and end years = 1886-1888 they don't come up. I believe this is where www.familysearch.org got their records from - they would have to get in touch with the Archives and fix - I don't know if they'ld go for that. Peart 37 b.Sept 1862 NH occupation: stone setter Margaret A. Peart 29 b. Jun 1870 Scot dressmaker Annie K. Peart 13 b.Feb 1887 MA The 1900 census asks how many years married ~ it says 16 years, so married about 1884. Margaret is the mother of one child and one child is living [obviously Anna] [Note: they are boarding in the house of Edmond & Harriet Cheever ~ they seem unrelated] In 1910 census at Attleboro, MA Margaret Peart 39 b. Scot "widow", mother of one child/one child living Anna Peart 22 [dau] b.MA However, also in 1910 at Salem, Essex Co., MA Frank N. Peart 47 b.1863 "single" engraver In 1920 census at Warwick, Kent, Rhoda Island Frank N. Peart 57 "single" stone setter in jewelry shop.. I find Frank N. Peart b.1863 apprentice gold engraver listed in 1880 census at Chelsea, Suffolk, MA with parents Francis B. and Martha Peart [father Francis B. Peart born RI] Seems to suggest that Frank N. Peart and Margaret separated, divorced? Perhaps Daniel Sheehan was Margaret's first husband and he died, then she married Frank Peart? As Anna was born Feb 1887 this seems to indicate that Frank Peart was her father rather than Daniel Sheehan??? If Margaret and Frank divorced then maybe Margaret went back to using Sheehan ~ her name from her first marriage this would explain it's use in her 1915 marriage to James Peckham? When in 1884 did Margaret marry Daniel Sheehan? Perhaps there is another marriage to Frank Peart in the same year or at least in 1885?
