Hi Betty, thanks for the information, but I don't think any of them fit my criteria, as Paul was born in 1929, and Bertrand would have been his older brother, but not that much older! haha,  I will see if I can get any more information from my stepdaughter.  The family was kind of 'fractured' and this might be very difficult.  Barbara ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ms Betty Fredericks" <[email protected]> To: "MA List" <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, December 20, 2011 6:19:45 AM Subject: [GENMASSACHUSETTS] SINCLAIR / ZIMMERMAN  couple Hi again,   I'm still looking at www.familysearch.org   and thinking about the 3 sons.      I do find a  Bertrand SINCLAIR in Gardner, MA,  who is something to think about.   Name: Bertrand N Sinclair   Titles & Terms:   Residence: Gardner town (south part), Worcester, Massachusetts   Birth Date: Sep 1877   Birthplace: Massachusetts   Relationship to Head of Household:   Spouse:   Spouse's Titles & Terms:   Spouse's Birthplace:   Father:   Father's Titles & Terms:   Father's Birthplace: Massachusetts   Mother:   Mother's Titles & Terms:   Mother's Birthplace: Massachusetts   Race or Color (expanded): White   Head-of-household Name: George Hubbard   Gender: Male   Marital Status: Single   Years Married:   Estimated Marriage Year:   Mother How Many Children:   Number Living Children:   Immigration Year:   Enumeration District: 1631   Page: 10   Sheet Letter: B   Family Number: 227   Reference Number: 76   Film Number: 1240692   Image Number: 00347     Household Gender Age  George Hubbard  M    Phild A Hubbard  F    George E Hubbard  M    Grace E Hubbard  F      Bertrand N Sinclair  M    Lydia Hubbard  F     That is the 1900 census,  and the 1880 census has him listed as a 2 yr-old in the Merwin SINCLAIR family in Westminster, MA.     That Bertrand died in MA in 1910.      Oh, he married in Providence, RI, in 1909.   With a couple only being married for one year,  you always wonder whether a child resulted from the short marriage.   Betty              (near Lowell, MA)   ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to [email protected] with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message

    1. [GENMASSACHUSETTS] Sinclair/Zimmerman
    2. Hello listers, I don't have much to go on this one, but an Elizabeth Zimmerman, married an unknown Sinclair. They had 3 sons that I know of, Fred H. Sinclair, d. 2004 Burtram Sinclair Paul Sinclair 1929-1970 my stepdaughter is trying to research her family. Paul, the youngest was her grandfather. He was born in Worcester county, we think. Any help? Leads? anything would be appreciated. I checked Heritage Quest's free search with my BPL card, and saw 3 Elizabeth zimmerman births in the Mass Vital free records, but can't get much further than that. I'm guessing that 2 of the boys should be in the 1920 census, but Heritage Quest that I use only lists by head of household, and I don't have that name. Thank you, Barbara Shepard

Just found out that she said she was born in Saratoga County in the copy of 1855 NY State Census I have. Searching that site now. Only birth info I have for children (5) is from Quaker records. I have death info also from SOF records but parents info not listed. Lots of places to still check in free sites. Have spent a lot of money getting Vital Records books for towns in Massachusetts, since that is where Rufus is from and I assumed that Ruth was from there also. Same daughter in 1880 US Census said mother and father were both born in Massachusetts - but not able to get statewide index for births to look at dob match. Just recently found out that the first child of Rufus and Ruth WINSLOW was Sybil (Sibil), dob 1804, and in the 1855 NY State Census she says she was born in Saratoga County, NY. Just in last week I have been getting into searching Saratoga County sites. The only birth info I have is from the Society of Friends records from Scipio, Cayuga, NY when the family became members. Apparently Ruth had possibly been a member of the SOF in the Saratoga/Easton Monthly Meeting at one time and one of my next steps is having Swarthmore College do a name search in their Quaker records to match the dob. Hi Carol,   I just checked and the SSDI  is still available at     www.familysearch.org     http://www.familysearch.org/eng/search/frameset_search.asp?PAGE=ssdi/search_ssdi.asp&clear_form=true     For those who don't know,  you can still use the old site there.    Just click on  "Go to Previous Site."   And, then click on  "Advanced Search"  and go to either the  Census records, or  SSDI records,  etc.   That is a way to weed out some of the many hits you get from the .new.  site.   Betty               (near Lowell, MA, USA)

Her dob is 7 September 1780 (as recorded in Scipio MM records). I originally assumed that she had been born in Saratoga or Washington Counties, New York because of other Society of Friends records. I recently acquired records for Ruth and Rufus WINSLOW's daughter Sibil (Sybil) - 1880 US Census - and Ruth was listed as having been born in Massachusetts. I am direct descendant of Rufus WINSLOW and he was born in Dartmouth, Bristol, Mass. I have looked at the Vital Records books from all of the communities in that county that existed in 1780 and cannot find any Ruth with that dob. Is there a way to look for a persons dob without having to look at each towns Vital Records ??? Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 1. [GENMASSACHUSETTS] Social Security Death Index
    2. Carol Botteron
    3. Rootsweb has removed the Social Security Death Index from its site "due to sensitivities around the information in this database." [?] SSDI is available on ancestry.com and some free sites, but some users say that the free sites are less up to date or the search engines are not as good. SSDI is available on the NEHGS site http://www.americanancestors.org under "Popular Databases." I did a quick test with the surname Hixson and the year 2011. The NEHGS site gave five results, all with death dates in January. Ancestry.com gave many more results, with death dates as recent as November. So maybe NEHGS's SSDI is updated less often (annually?). It would be nice if the NEHGS site told users the date of its SSDI. But if that is the only difference, it should be OK for users who are not in a big hurry. I logged out of the NEHGS site and was still able to get the same five results, so apparently the SSDI is open to nonmembers. Can anyone comment on the comparative effectiveness of the NEHGS vs. ancestry.com search engine, etc.?
