If you go to https://familysearch.org/ and choose "USA, Canada and Mexico" you can scroll down to "Massachusetts, State Vital Records, 1841-1920." This is basically 1916-1920 records, not indexed but users can browse through them. But -- how do you find the town you want? Choosing "Browse" and then "Births" gets a list of volumes, mostly 1918 with town names. I'm looking for records for Sharon. I tried "Births, 1918, vol. 0116, Salem-Sus" but these are almost all from Salem plus a few from Lynn (huh?). The next is "Births, 1918, vol. 0117, Sus-Shrewsbury." I looked at every 50th page and found records from Saugus, then Lynn again, then Newton, then (page 248) finally Sharon. There was even a record from Providence, RI. Is the list of volumes really supposed to be in order of towns? If so, I hope the other volumes are better than these. "Learn more" only gives information like what's on a birth record, not how they are organized. Good luck to everyone who tries to use these!

Because my husband knew his Azorean grandmother until 1980, he knew some of the information. With the basic information he could tell me, I found out that Antonio PACHECO, 20, arrived in ~1905. And he was born on Sao Miguel, a small village right beside Ponta Delgada. His long-widowed grandmother called it St. Michael's. She was born Elsie MOURA and also arrived ~1905 but as a 12-year-old. She came to be a servant for a family in Boston. She might have had a sister with her. She saved up enough money to bring her mother and another sister over who arrived ~1910. * They came from Sao Miguel, but I have not been able to find out which village they came from. ** Elsie and Antonio married in 1911 in Cambridge, MA, and lived there. However, in ~1929, "Tony" was killed in a car accident in Raynham, MA, and he might have been working in Taunton, MA. Elsie's sister, Rosa, married Charles PERRY (probably PEREIRA), and their sister, Carolina married Francis MEDEIROS. Because of my interest in learning about these families, I joined the Azores List and posted queries there. Later an Azores GROUP at www.google.com was started up. There is probably an Azores Board at www.rootsweb.com which I haven't visited in a few years. With the help of the other Azorean researchers, I have found out that there are ways to .try. to find out which ships these people arrived on. And, .try. to find out which port they arrived at (Boston, New Bedford, NYC, etc.) But, these searches are very time-consuming, and I haven't had any luck finding information on Tony and Elsie. One problem is there were several Antonio PACHECO's arriving in MA (New England) around the same time. The Azores List is not as active as it used to be, but you should check the archives of the List to see if your surnames have been mentioned before. www.rootsweb.com Also, in census records you will find people arriving had come from Azores, Portugal, Western Isles, and sometimes Brazil, but many times they had actually come from the Azores islands. Betty (near Lowell, MA) (on Lists and Boards for 10 yrs.; now an Admin for 9 Lists and 3 Boards) * Philomena MOURA arrived alone with one daughter ~1910. We don't know what happened to her husband, Francisco MOURA. There is a suspicion that he went to NYC when she went to Boston. They had 2 sons, Francisco, Jr., and Manuel MOURA. I have not been able to find out if they were the oldest or the youngest in the family. And, if the oldest, I don't know if they had already married when arriving. Hello, I'd like to ask if anyone knows whether Robert BANCROFT, b~1720, fought in the Rev. War, perhaps as "light service." Possibly some of his sons did. He had married Elizabeth PICKETT from a Marblehead family, and were initially in Canton - living with the Ponkapoag Tribe (1740). But, they moved to Middleton, where their 10 children were raised. They remained close to the Native Americans for their entire, adult lives. (I'm told by researchers that books state Robert was "a White man." But, because he lived with the Tribe for maybe 10 yrs., some thought he was a Native American. No one has yet found out which BANCROFT or BANCRAFT family Robert came from, or whether he was from a New England family.) As per my many, old postings on the Lists, it is only my .educated guess. that Robert and Elizabeth BANCROFT are my ancestors. That is because it is also my .educated guess. that their daughter and son-in-law, were my ancestors. William WILKINS from Middleton married Sarah BANCROFT. They reportedly had 5 children while in Middleton, but lost 4 of them when young. By 1770's, they had a surviving daughter. They moved to "Maine" during 1770's, and some day I hope to find out that they had a 6 th child while in "Maine." This would have been Samuel WILKINS, reportedly born in "Maine" during 1770's. A "guess" is that Sarah died as a result of childbirth, and that William asked another couple to raise his 7-yr-old daughter and his newborn son. That is why I cannot find them in census records. (Even though William was in "Maine" up through 1800, he does not show up in census records either. Possibly because he moved around too much as a surveyor or because, when later, he was a teacher and lived in the homes of his students.) Betty (near Lowell, MA) FYI: This is a partial list of the BANCROFT family members from the Middleton Historical Society. Roberts's sons would have been Timothy, b~1743, Andrew, b1767, Daniel, b1761, John, b1760, Robert b1760, Thomas, b1760 --- OOPS. Just noticed those were the years they were .baptised. The 10 children would have been born durings 1740's and 1750's. So, the sons would have been old enough to be soldiers in 1770's. BANCRAFT (see also Bancroft) Sarah, d. Hello, The "Greater Lowell Genealogy Club" just sent out a notice that there will be a set of genealogy lectures at the Pollard Library in Lowell on March 3. They are free, and they look like they will be interesting lectures. http://www.pollardml.org/ The event hasn't been posted on the Library's on-line Calendar page, yet. It also hasn't been mentioned on the Club's web site, yet. But there is other information to be seen there. http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~maglgc/ The Club meetings are usually held on Saturdays. Betty (near Lowell, MA) FYI: The .Chelmsford Genealogy Club. meetings on the first Tuesday night of each month. For over 5 years, I thought it would be nice if a Genealogy Club in Greater Lowell held their meetings on a weekday morning ! I've never taken the initiative to get a first meeting started up, but maybe I'll get motivated - this year ! One thought is that it would be called, "Genealogy in the Morning." Or, Genealogy in the Morning, Billerica and Chelmsford (GMBC). And, the meetings could be held alternatively at the Billerica Senior Center and the Chelmsford Senior Center. Maybe I'll write to them and the respective libraries this month with my idea.

Grandfather an Architect. The Architect was Louis N. Audet And if so was he the one who re-desiged St. Anne de Beaupre Catherdral in or near Mt. Morency Quebec?. If so he looks just like what my father-in-law did. I have been trying to find this Louis Audet. To see if he is a direct line. We are also from Innocent and Vincente Roy-Audet. But being that Louis looks so much like my husband's father he has to be closer in his line. Dad, Was the son of Joseph (Isadore) and Albertine Leblanc-Audet Born in 1912 in Gaspie Penn Quebec. And Isadore was the son of Francios Xavier and Marie Olive Cyr-Audet. And they lived near the New Richmond, St. Charles de Caplan Quebec Area. I am assumimg you speak English. If so You can conract me at: [email protected] frontier.com. I live in Michigan. I have Registry Books for de Caplan 1867-1974 and New Richmond 1831-1970. I am not sure if there is any more of these Registries. I got them as a thank you gift from our My husband's grandmother son and daughter when they came her to celebrate my father-in-law's 80th birthday. The books have my father-in- law's and his 3 siblings information. Even though they came to the USA in1926. Also there are books called NOS ANCETRES in French and the English version, was titled Our French Canadian Ancestors. The author was R.P. Gerard LebelC. Ss. R it was written in French. Later it was transcribe by Thomas LaForest who was a retired US Navy Officer. These books had the first member of a family that settled in Canada or New France (Quebec) It is possible that this set of books can still be found in Canada and USA. The think when I purchased the French version they were like $7.50. And the English translated version were $20.00. Did you know that there is a Quaint little town in Quebec near Lac Magente called Audet? It is a very clean town. That is very litterly old school. We were there at noon and there wasn't one person out when we first arrived. When we arrived on our 1st visit we all got out of the cars and were starting to take photos of those with us when someone from the first house came out to see what we were doing. And when we explain ed our visit they took the pictures of us. I had already had photos of the town from 1993. I wanted to take my father-in-law there but I was over ruled.. So, I called the tourist board there and explain my plight and asked if I sent disposable cameras would someone go and take the pictures for me. And send back the undeveloped photos. And they did. I was so very thankful for the tourist board member and her family for doing this for me. My Father-in-law really thought it was a really nice thing for this family to do this for us complete strangers! . Though not to the name AUDET.. So when we were able to visit with my Mother-in-law in 1987, my husband and myself as well as the cousins who gave me the books we knew exactly what to look for. The town is named mor Miseal (MIchael) Audet the first postmaster of the town. I was also able to get the town's history from A Misieur Gagon who ran the news paper there. We later ran into a teacher taking a walk down the hill and Mom went and talked to her. She spoke French. And it was learned at that time we knew more about the town's history then it's own residents. I had to send proof of who I was and Mr. Gagon was extremely forth coming with the history of the town and very helpful to me. I am the only family member of my husbands' line that was doing research at the time. But: Kimee, I was really lucky where my Audet and Lablanc research is concern. For when I inviteded this one cousin Reine Leblanc to my father-in-law's Birthday party I asked her if she had any family history she could share with me when she came. And she asked me how would you like 300 years of Leblanc Family History? I was totally shocked. It turned out that she was a teacher and she was chosen to take care of the family history that was compiled by many relatives before her. It was all hand written. And she passed it on down to me where it is now on computer They called and ask me if she could bring her Brother and sister-in-law on the trip to visit. And because they were elderly I said ofcourse. Well they arrived two days before the party for dad and Reine gave me her family information. And then her sister-in-law said to me how how would you like 300 years of Audet family history. And I said your mon was a a Tompson and she came back with her grandmother was an Audet Dit Lapointe. Such a small world. And her information was written by several family members also and put in the care of One person. And that too is on computer. We belong to the Audet dit Lapointe Assocation. It is really noce. You can go an line to the ADNAL Assoc. site. It has been a while since I have been on there. I am a bit slower these days now due to that I now have a few major health issues. The worst being a very rare Kidney Cancer (Papillary Renal Cell TypeII Cancer. I lost my right kidney in June to it. There is no cure. They can only cut until they can't cut anymore.
