If he became a citizen, his papers should at least say what county he was from. Burials of Irish born in the 1880s frequently give place of origin in Ireland. Newspaper obituary is another clue to look for. Thanks for advice Dennis. However, been there and done that as they say. Thomas was apparently never naturalized. (went to NARA in Waltham) The headstone to the gravestone is missing. Any other surviving records do not give detailed information about his origin, including local obituary (only 2 lines in length).
