In many if not all of the older parish registers with which I deal, there is usually only a single address given in entries for marriages. This rasies the question, what is the significance of this address? Is it: a) The address of the groom, b) The address of the bride, or, c) The location of the marriage (which pre-1850 or so seems to have been generally in private homes, at least in rural areas). In cases where I am familar with origins, it seems to be case b), i.e. brides address, which would also coincide with c). However, in some other registers, I am just not sure which it is. Anyone know if there was a general rule being followed, or could it vary by parish, etc.? Regards, The Chief
