I have just received the Civil War record of my second great grandfather, Patrick Hoy (later changed to Hoey), from the U.S. National Archives. The handwritten record is quite legible and it lists him as from a town in Ireland that appears to be be spelled "Cooldrummon". I have been told by another Hoy/Hoey researcher that Sligo is a likely location. He was probably born between 1833 and 1835. I don't know when he left Ireland but he is listed in Willimantic, CT on November 23, 1861, when he enlisted. A Google search for "Cooldrummon" does not really produce anything. Was there such a place in Sligo in the 1830's? I will appreciate advice.
