A Chairde, The first Morning Open Meeting to be hosted in 2006 by the Genealogical Society of Ireland www.familyhistory.ie will be held on Wednesday 25th January 2006 in The Port View Hotel, Marine Road, Dun Laoghaire, Co. Dublin at 10.30hrs to 12.30hrs. Contribution 3 EURO per person (includes coffee/tea). This hotel is only three minutes walk from the DART Station at Dun Laoghaire and very conveniently located for Dublin Bus - nos 7, 45A, 46A, 59, 75 and 111. The format of the meeting is that of a general group discussion on genealogical or heraldic topics, indeed, this meeting will focus on the records of the Registry of Deeds in Dublin as part of an Irish Governmental consultative process. By the way, the Society's newsletter in its new format "Ireland's Genealogical Gazette" is uploaded to the Society's website www.familyhistory.ie and, as usual, this month looks at some topical issues for genealogy and heraldry in Ireland, amongst which, is the possibility of a "concordat" with the Holy See.
