I've found an entry for the Stotesbury family in the 1881 census which includes three members who are given as born in Ireland. Richd. STOTESBURY Head M Male 42 Ireland Commercial Traveller Ellenor STOTESBURY Wife M Female 35 Ireland Robert STOTESBURY Son U Male 18 Ireland Clerk The rest of the children were born in England. With nothing more than the above to go on, is there any way of finding out where Richard was born and when/where he married?

Hello. The marriage of Richard Stotesbury is as follows [see below] and I have also included any Stotesbury and Ladley that are listed in the Griffiths Valuation Index of Ireland (1848-1864). The most logical assumption is that Dublin and Meath are the counties for further research. Although the Valuation Index does not list a Robert Stotesbury or a George Ladley as head of any household, this may mean that either were not the head of a household (living with siblings etc) or both were deceased by the time of the commencement of the valuation in 1848. I would suggest that the births (below) to George Sotesbury indicates that this george is a sibling or cousin to your Richard. Good luck. Mike.
