Hi all I am trying to find my GGG father Simon BOLGER b abt 1858 - 1865 The only information I have is the following. Born Kilkenny Occupation Headmaster. He also had a school in which he taught illiterate children for many years after been a HeadMaster. Simon had a son James Bolger born abt 1878 - 1885 circa He left Ireland for Liverpool abt 1900 (Not sure on other siblings as yet) He met Johanna Delaney in Liverpool whom also was from Wexford. Johanna's father is Michael Delaney (possible) wife Ellen. I am not sure how to search for these family's and would love some help or links to websites etc that could help reveal these family's. I have been doing a search of the BOLGER name and looks like a lot of them settled in South-east Leinster. Correct me if I am wrong as I am enjoying the history beyond the names so far. Thank you in advance Kristina Cameron
There are Bolger gravestones in the old Mullinavat graveyard next to our Grant family headstones. The earliest death recorded on our stones was Bart Grant who was born around 1720. This graveyard is located in the civil parish of Kilbeacon just north of Walsh's pub off the main Kilkenny-Waterford road. Check out a Griffith's Index and see if you can find any of the first names used by your family among these Bolgers. I believe the Mullinavat baptismal records start at 1858. Before that the area belonged to a larger Kilmacow parish that should have good records going back to 1842 .
