I am seeking contact with any one researching Quilty's in Ireland. My GG grand mother was Catherine Quilty born circa 1825. She may have had a sister Bridget born circa 1830. Parents possibly Thomas or John Quilty and Ellen Connor. Have not yet found shipping records but Catherine came to Australia circa 1840 and Bridget before 1860. Sue Wood Seeking: Pyle, McClelland, McMahon, Lowther, Le Batt, Innes, Miller, Madden, Quaife , Lake, Shipton Nolan, McQueen, McConnell Quilty, McConnell, Renton, McLean, Farrell, Wood, Forshaw, Ross, Wil(l)shire, Coates, Lavender, Follitt, Sutton, Cotter.
Here's one Sue. http://www.access.prov.vic.gov.au/public/PROVguides/PROVguide023/PROVguide023.jsp Index to Assisted British Immigration 1839-1871 This is an index to Registers of Assisted British Immigrants 1839-1871 1 result found. Family Name Given Name Age Month Year Ship Book Page QUILTY BRIDGET 24 FEB 1854 BLENHEIM 9 401 To be assisted she would have needed a "sponsor" or a place organised at which she would work for a while when she landed. If you go to the Archives in North Melbourne you could checkout her details, Assisted has more than Unassisted.
