You should be able to get through your local library if you have the right details. Have a look at: http://catalogue.bl.uk/F/?func=full-set-set&set_number=013400&set_entry= 000002&format=999 best regards Theresa -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of [email protected] Sent: 24 October 2008 02:49 To: [email protected] Subject: Re: Orphan Train Ed Below is one to start you off. Do a google and find plenty more information. MaryPat Has anyone heard of the Orphan Train? It was a PBS special some time ago about children who were on the streets of New York and were rounded up and put on a train going out west. The children were either orphans or thrown out on the streets as their parents could not take care of them. Just wondered if there is a book about this. ed _http://www.42explore2.com/orphan.htm_ (http://www.42explore2.com/orphan.htm) **************Play online games for FREE at Games.com! Clare is kept? I'm looking for a record of my great-grandfather, John Hennessey, born about 1835 to parents John & Bridget Canny in Co. Clare. I requested a search by Clare Heritage Centre and they reported that the closest record they had was an entry in the Tulla Parish Church Register for a John Hennessy & Bridget Canny baptizing a son Michael on December 31, 1828. I looked up this record in the LDS microfilm of the Parish Register and the entries for this date were illegible. I want to have a friend in Ireland try to verify this record by looking at the original. Thanks for any help. Some people actually want to know their origins and some parents actually want to know their adopted out offspring. ------------------------------ Message: 4 Date: Fri, 24 Oct 2008 23:36:43 -0700 (PDT) From: zanthia1967 <[email protected]> Subject: Dominick St, City Cork, Ireland. To: [email protected] Message-ID: <[email protected]m> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1 Hoping someone can point me towards the correct history society covering this place. There are so many irish history societys and many cover overlapping areas so I am hoping that someone can help. I have an ancestor reputedly born in this street in 1817 with the very common surname 'McCarthy/McCartnie' so I am hoping that there is a group out there that I can contact to research this matter further. I am hoping that there may be land or tenant records for the area or (I can only hope) death records of other family members citing this address, perhaps a christening or marriage of the parents. The lass in question used the given name of Margaret and surname McCarthy and I have been able to verify through her death record a brother called Denis(sic). Realistically any information that can help prove (or disprove) her as being from the above address would be welcome. ------------------------------ Message: 5 Date: Fri, 24 Oct 2008 23:46:50 -0700 (PDT) From: zanthia1967 <[email protected]> Subject: Re: DNA To: [email protected] Message-ID: <[email protected]m> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1 and OH MY GOSS worse still they might tell you that you are related to DON and that would be so scary. I for one would welcome DNA evidence that could assist with my research. Bugger off Mr Dwelling On Negativity and Moody End of GENIRE Digest, Vol 3, Issue 258 **************************************
