Thank you for sharing your beautiful pictures. Rachel Smith
Johnstown is the name of the Roman Catholic parish and whilst it is supposed to cover the parishes of Eirke and Fertagh it also includes records for 'Galmoy' - even though Galmoy is a Roman Catholic parish of itself with records predating Johnstown. Johnstown also includes records for Rathlogan or Ralogan which I am taking to being Rathlogan................ There's a Rathlogan townland in the Civil parish of Glashare...............another parish that is divided between the two counties (Eirke the same), so I'm taking this Ralogan to be in Glashare and nothing to do with the civil parish of Rathlogan in Kilkenny. I've put an index to children baptised in Johnstown R.C. records on my From Ireland site.......... All Walsh and Purcell records over these years have been noted. Sir Crispers, as ever your posts are historically impeccable. Sadly though I fear your grandpater may be a charlatan. The Constabulary Medal was never engraved on the rim and no bar was ever awarded to an Officer. This faux pas probably passed unnoticed though at the Kildare Club. Hi, I was just wondering if anyone had any info of a Stanton family located around the town of Clifden in Co. Galway? My Great Granfather, Michael, left there for America aroung 1890 and at that time left behind some brothers and sisters. Any help would be appreciated. -PJS

I am trying to find any record of my great grandmother, Catherine O'Connor, who was born in Cork. Although other records show her as having been born in 1869, her grave marker says 1859. She emigrated to the U.S. in 1884. Her father was John O'Connor and her mother was Mary Crowley. A couple of years ago, the Mallow Centre told me it had no record. I will appreciate advice.

I have just read a glowing review in History Ireland of the Atlas of Cork City. This book may be useful to genealogists as the review says that the book has 38 chapters from 59 contributors as well as over 200 maps. It looks as though the chapter called The city in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries would be useful. I have tried to buy the book but it is sold out in all of the bookshops in Cork city but stocks are due back in this week. The publisher is Cork University Press and they have a website at http://www.corkuniversitypress.com
