The FamilySearch Wiki is growing, they need your help. From today's User Group Meeting (which I attended live and those outside the area can attend via Adobe Connect for now: 5. Have state, country, county coordinators. Could we advertize this need on a portal page? Coordinators should have genealogical experience? Have a way to give feedback on coordinators/ moderators so those that are not effective can be evaluated and changed as needed. 5. Volunteers for moderators Jimmy: Idaho, Indians of North America Lisa: Tennessee Darris: Wales David: New York, Oregon, Luxembourg, Germany This would work like USGenweb/WorldGenweb if it works out, have coordinators for counties and states in the US and countries There need to be alot more than the 1660 or so people that are on as of this writing. Also note the forums link on the left of any wiki page as well. You can ask research questions there. The wiki will be for posting information about records, repositories, research strategies, etc. Almost all the other wikis I've seen have to do with surnames and the like, this is the only one focused on actual research resources and strategies. You do not have to be LDS to participate, although they are providing the resources and the technical backing for the project. Jump in, edit your areas of knowledge. They anticipate it being used by millions on a regular basis. The site uses the latest version of the Wikimedia software, so it is up to date technically as well. http://wiki.familysearch.org/ Forums: http://forums.familysearchsupport.org/index.php A note on registration which is needed for editing on the wiki and posting on the forums other than those for feedback on the wiki: Sorry no single signin yet for both projects, but they are working on that technical issue. Best to use the same username on both if you do so that when they do the transition will be smoother for you.

Presented with the few facts you give, I would suggest tracing cousins - look for where mermbers of the family were at every possible time (1880 onwards), and see what you can determine about the people they were with, hoping for a reference to a relationship. In any case, for a brick wall, I would give a lot more information (dates and place of death, whether daughter married, any other children, and other moves, etc, etc.) It might also help to put the details of the nuclear family on a free webpage (eg http://accounts.rootsweb.ancestry.com/index.cgi?op=show&page=freagree.htm) with a picture (to avoid spam) of your email address, giving what you know (don't bring it forward to the living). I have done this twice - one was "answered" after 4 years, the other after 8 years.
My great grandfather John Francis GREENE was born in Kilrush, County Clare, Ireland in 1840. He came to Australia with my great great grandparents Simon and Sarah GREENE (nee HENDYON) approx 1850. Transcribed from the 21 May 1822 edition of The Strabane Morning Post, by permission of The British Library: The London subscription for the relief of the starving Irish, swells with rapidity beyond all precedent. It now exceeds 20,000l. [£20,000]. There has been a letter from Sir E. O'Brien, in which he states that a London Merchant, who will not suffer his name to be mentioned, has given an entire cargo of meal and rice for the use of Clare. In the principal towns of England and Wales, subscriptions have been opened. The following sums have been already remitted to Ireland:--To Clare, 1000l. [£1000]; Limerick, 500l. [£500]; Galway, 500l. [£500]; Kerry, 500l. [£500]; Skibbereen, 100l. [£100]. [...] The exertions making by Government for the relief of the distressed districts have been unceasing and efficacious. They have contracted at Leith for one thousand tons of potatoes, which have been shipped for this country, and which will be delivered at those ports in the South of Ireland, where scarcity is most prevalent. ========================

What information other than names of bride and groom might I find on a Church Marriage record in 1755 Limerick? I already know the names of the parties: Gaetano RIALI married Christiana McCARTER 1755. Before I spend 5 euro(?) purchasing a copy I want to find out if I will gain something by it! Gaetano RIALI has proven stubbornly elusive. He later married Elisabeth RIORDAN (not sure where or when - my papers are packed away and it's way too late in the evening!) and I cannot find when he died or where he came frrom. Family story has that he was an Italian envoy. But I have no basis for that. His children variously spell the surname REALI, REALE, RIALI It would appear the families moved away form Limerick as descendants show up in places heading down towards Fermoy, and Cashel. He was said to be Catholic and she was probably Protestant. They were in Woodson Co KS by 1871 not in IL 1870 or KS 1870 census so apparently in transit. I have asked for help from the Woodson Co KS Hist Soc so far nothing has resulted from my queries either time I have called or e-mailed them. I would like to know who John Hyland married. She may have been an: Urquhart, Dwyer, Shaw, Wallace, Ferguson Would like to know where he was from and her as well. Also who both sets of parents were.

To execute: To carry-through and/or put into place. Given that definition, that applies equally to the performance of instruction of computer programs as well as life-terminating procedures - all with a single definition applied to two separate contexts. What is the second meaning you had in mind?

You need to sub to this list with your new address, using the request address (not the list or admin addresses). When you have confirmation that your subscription is successful, which is done either via clicking on a link to confirm or waiting for the admin to approve the sub, depending on how the list is set up), you can then unsub from your old address, again using the request address. If you are unable to use the old address to unsub with, contact the list admin at the admin address and it can be done manually. The list is gatewayed to a newsgroup and having a full address in a newsgroup post is not a good idea as it can easily be harvested for spamming purposes.

Stand by.
For anyone who's a fan of the Star Trek television franchise, there was an episode with the following comment regarding rather draconian laws ... "You are free to execute your laws ... and your citizens ... are you see fit"

I figured it would be easy enough to find out by Googling "Hannah Dobbe" 1879, but all I came up with was the IrelandOldNews entry and this thread on Usenet. Then I tumbled to the fact that it must be a typo, either in the original or in my transcription. If you Google "Hannah Dobbs" 1879 you will find several pages about her including one which says she was acquitted.
