Same thing with Spammers!!!
These people are known as TROLLS. They go from list to list and cause trouble. The only way to get rid of them is to IGNORE them - do not respond. If you have a way to block their posts, they simply change names and e-mail addresses and carry on. In a battle, there are times when a unit goes around a pill box and carries on. Works for trolls too. I agree about names. I don't respond to someone who uses a pseudonym - even if I can help. I want to know who I am dealing with....there a dangling preposition - see if he comments. Then IGNORE HIM. (Not shouting - the caps are for emphasis - I have seen these people ruin great lists like this one). Jim 2. Re: FREE Griffiths Valuation - Dates? This site, being already read by thousands of people all over the world, helps us to understand how Satan tries, on one hand, to induce the man to commit the evil, on the other, to stand himself hidden and to make him believe that he doesn’t exist. But he is there !! That’s why we must be always vigilant because, in the final moment of our life, he should not present himself to grab our soul. The Irish Genealogical Society in Minnesota used to sell maps. I have one of Mayo, Sligo, Roscommon, and Galway on my wall. Very detailed with many townlands etc. Sorry I do not have the address but you should be able to find it with Google. ed Ron, I am researching "Daly" from County Roscommon. I see where you have a Griffiths map of Roscommon. Can you please tell me how I can get a copy of that map? Thanking you in advance. I address to the moderator of this web site: Can we keep the following nonsense out of this genealogical site thank you? As for the person who asked about the Griffith's dates I shall say this-the best teacher I ever had once told me he ALWAYS REMEMBERED WHAT IT WAS LIKE WHEN HE DID NOT KNOW THE SUBJECT...no doubt it my mind that's what made him an excellent teacher-also the only dumb question is the unasked one. Kindly do not reply to this as I always remember what it was like when I didn't know, and was lucky enough to have some very generous and kind persons help me along. I wish I could help you with the Griffith's dates but I cannot as I am unsure about them. Amen and Amen. "The Chief" <[email protected]> wrote in message news:[email protected]... On Jul 29, 3:04 am, "Ron O'Brien" <[email protected]> wrote: "l faris" <[email protected]> wrote in message news:[email protected] Hello Whenever I read about Griffiths I see a very wide date range in which the data was collected (1848-1864). Is there anywhere online a reference that can tell me more specifically when the valuation was done in a particular area? Some were done first and some last - It would be helpful to know when the Mayo valuations were done as compared to when the Roscomon ones were done. I have a Griffiths map of a Roscommon townland, the map is dated, so presumably that indicates when the data was collected Ron Have you ever heard of books? You might care to look in some. Alternatively, you might also care to do some very simple internet searches. Math. 7:7; Luke 11:9-10 Regards, The Chief That's a bit uncalled for. By the same token we don't need any "online references" and we can lookup everything in books, including the valuations themselves Tony Proctor Not in the least uncalled for. Consider: entering just the terms "Roscommon" and "Griffith's valuation" in Google leads straight to multiple web sites with the desired answer, and there are entire web pages devoted just to GV for Roscommon! In addition, anyone interested in Irish family history research should either own or at least borrow some of the standard reference works, where this information is easily found. I see no need to mollycoddle the latest lazy, idle bugger to come along and want me to do his research for him, as some others seem pleased to do. Regards, The Chief ------------------- But he didn't ask you to do any research for him. He merely asked if there was an online reference somewhere. I travel a lot with both work and my research. If I took all my books with me, the airlines would have a field day with "excess baggage" charges (not mentioning any airline in particular of course) :-) Tony Proctor ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to [email protected] with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message This email was cleaned by emailStripper, available for free from http://www.papercut.biz/emailStripper.htm
