    3. FRIENDSHIP'S ROAD I have a warm and friendly feeling As I think of you today; And I wish that we could visit, But you're many miles away. Separated by such distance, Yet our emails bring us near; Through the miles we share a friendship That's become to me most dear. Friends through correspondence; Still, your face I need not see For your soul shines through the words Every time you write to me. You have a special way of writing, Warming as the sunshine rays, Bringing joy and inspiration, Brightening up my days. You have enriched my life, my dear one, And I'm glad God willed we meet, "Friendship's Road" is that much nicer Traveling it with one so sweet. 1. [GENHUMOR] Fwd: I AM THE NEW YEAR//awdewd
    2. EDNA WAKEHAM
    3. I am the new year. I am an unspoiled page in your book of time. I am your next chance at the art of living. I am your opportunity to practice what you have learned about life during the last twelve months. All that you sought and didn’t find is hidden in me, waiting for you to search it but with more determination. All the good that you tried for and didn’t achieve is mine to grant when you have fewer conflicting desires. I am your opportunity to renew your allegiance to Him who said, "Behold, I make all things new." *********************** Recipe for a Happy New Year To leave the old with a burst of song, To recall the right and forgive the wrong; To forget the thing that binds you fast To the vain regrets of the year that's past; To have the strength to let go your hold Of the not worthwhile of the days grown old, To dare to go forth with a purpose true, To the unknown task of the year that's new; To help your brother along the road To do his work and lift his load; To add your gift to the world's good cheer Is to have and to give a happy new year. --Author unknown ~ANOTHER NEW YEAR~ Another year is passing upon the fleeting sands of time We must forget past troubles leave our problems all behind. The Lord will guide us forward We do not have to doubt or fear, Yesterday's sorrows are in the past, God will give joy anew, and wipe away all tears. May a renewed vision of the future touch and fill each life The Lord will renew submissive hearts He'll take away sin and strife. The is the year to bind up the brokenhearted It's God's will to set the captives free, There is comfort for those who mourn in Zion, Because of victory, on Calvary's rugged tree. This could be the very hour our Lord will come again A blessed hope to trust in, has been given to all men. We know not the day but soon, we know He shall appear, The Day of the Lord draws nearer, with the dawning of each New Year.

    2. EDNA WAKEHAM
    3. There is no use looking back at yesterday. I am no longer the person I was back then. Every morning when the sun rises, I am a changed person. Changed by the experiences I've had, the lessons I have learned, and the love I have received. It's time to move forward and embrace the life that I'’ve been given, be grateful for the many blessings that have been bestowed upon me, and start living a life of passion. There will always be ups and downs, good times and bad, losses and gains. Life is about learning lessons, showing love in the process, and growing into the beautiful souls we are meant to become. Don'’t let yesterday rob you of your happiness today. Every time the sun rises, it’s a new opportunity to make your life the best of your life. Enjoy every moment!!

    3. > > > > A family took their frail, elderly mother to a nursing home and left her, hoping she would be well cared for. The next morning, the nurses bathed her, fed her a tasty breakfast, and set her in a chair at a window overlooking a lovely flower garden. > She seemed okay, but after a while she slowly started to tilt sideways in her chair. Two attentive nurses immediately rushed up to catch her and straighten her up. > Again she seemed okay, but after a while she slowly started to tilt over to her other side. The nurses rushed back and once more brought her back upright. This went on all morning. Later, the family arrived to see how the old woman was adjusting to her new home. > "So Ma, how is it here? Are they treating you all right?" > "It's pretty nice," she replied. "Except they won't let me fart." > > > > > > > > > > >

    1. [GENHUMOR] Fwd: Take Time//awdewd
    2. EDNA WAKEHAM
    3. Take Time Take some time to smell the flowers As you walk the paths of life. Take some time to ease the tensions >From the challenges and the strife. Take some time to hear the birds sing As they usher in the dawn. Though the day be just emerging, Too soon it will be gone. Take some time to watch a sunrise, Now and then a sunset too. Just be sure that seeking pleasure Isn't all you ever do. Take some time to count your blessings, Though you feel they're not that great. You will find they're more abundant Than you thought, at any rate. Take some time to banish hatred When and where you can. Just detest man's evil ways And not your fellow man. Take some time to love your children Every moment you are free. The benefits exceeds A university degree. Take some time to love your neighbor And even more important still, Take some time to love yourself Or not many others will. And if you don't like that image Of yourself that others see, Take some time to make some changes, Be the best that you can be. Take some time to help another Who you think might need a hand. You will find the satisfaction Leaves you feeling sort of grand. Take some time to live by virtue In the best way that is known, And respect the rights of others As equal to your own. Take some time to just appreciate The fact that you are here, And to know that Higher Power And to trust It without fear. If you do these things with diligence You will eventually be glad. If you don't attempt to do them You may one day wish you had. Although this no doubt could impose Upon your time for seeking wealth, There should be little question That it could improve your health. And though you might not be as wealthy Nor drive so fine a car, You'll find you will be richer In other ways by far. By Leon Hansen >

    1. [GENHUMOR] tooth fairy//sjg
    2. EDNA WAKEHAM
    3. The tooth fairy is a fantasy figure of early childhood in Western and Western-influenced cultures. The folklore states that when children lose one of their baby teeth, they should place it underneath their pillow and the tooth fairy will visit while they sleep, replacing the lost tooth with a small payment. The Tooth Fairy, I found out, has an interesting -- and distinctly American -- origin. But the closest parallel to the American Tooth Fairy may be an 18th century French fairy tale called La Bonne Petite Souris. In the story, a good queen is imprisoned by a bad king and enlists a mouse for help out of her predicament. The mouse turns out to be a fairy who frees the queen and knocks out the king's teeth. The fairy-mouse then hides the teeth under the king's pillow, before eventually having him assassinated. A happy children's tale for sure! A story in Collier's magazine, one of the most popular of its time, mentioned the Tooth Fairy in 1949. And yet the first Tooth Fairy reference citation -- in the World Book encyclopedia -- didn't come until 1979! For those of us who grew up with special pillows in which to put our deciduous teeth, this is quite frankly surprising. What happened in the middle of the 20th century to change this minor folk belief into a full-fledged national myth? >

    1. [GENHUMOR] Fwd: Two Days We Should Not Worry/ewd
    2. EDNA WAKEHAM
    3. There are two days in every week about which we should not worry, two days which should be kept free from fear and apprehension. One of these days is Yesterday with all its mistakes and cares, its faults and blunders, its aches and pains. Yesterday has passed forever beyond our control. All the money in the world cannot bring back Yesterday. We cannot undo a single act we performed; we cannot erase a single word we said. Yesterday is gone forever. The other day we should not worry about is Tomorrow with all its possible adversities, its burdens, its large promise and its poor performance; Tomorrow is also beyond our immediate control. Tomorrow's sun will rise, either in splendor or behind a mask of clouds, but it will rise. Until it does, we have no stake in Tomorrow, for it is yet to be born. This leaves only one day, Today. Any person can fight the battle of just one day. It is when you and I add the burdens of those two awful eternities Yesterday and Tomorrow that we break down. It is not the experience of Today that drives a person mad, it is the remorse or bitterness of something which happened Yesterday and the dread of what Tomorrow may bring. Let us, therefore, Live but one day at a time.
