    3. am studying for a PostGraduate Diploma in Genealogical Research, online, at the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, Scotland. My year-end project is a small (5,000-word) research paper - one component of which is to get an idea of whether beginning genealogy researchers keep notes on where they get their information and citing sources. This information will help better research habits and, hopefully, form the basis of a larger study in the continuing effort to educate. Individual names of respondents will be kept strictly confidential and not be used on this, or future, papers or for public access, without the express permission of the individual. Your answers to this short survey will be very helpful. SURVEY 1. What sources did you use for your research? List all that apply: A. Internet (very generally, any research done via electronic means such as Ancestry.com, FamilySearch.org, repository or local genealogy websites, wikis, etc.) B. Library, archives or other brick-and-mortar sites. C. Family members and other relatives. D. Other 2. Have you: A. Read any instructions (no matter how simple) or had any formal instruction in genealogy research? B. Self-taught 3. As part of gathering information, do you keep notes on where your information comes from? Your sources? If yes, answer the next question. 4. If you've published, or shared with anyone else, or plan to publish or share with others your research, did you include source citations so that others can find the same sources you used? Thank you to those that wish to participate. cindy@rahman.com

    1. O'Neal and Howard
    2. connie mead
    3. If I could, I would like to cheat and invite two ancestors to Thanksgiving dinner: They are both very elusive. My first choice would be my great great grandfather on my mother's side. I do not know who you are. You fathered my great grandfather, WILLIAM HOUSTON JONES, (DOB April 15, 1873, DOD January 7, 1940) probably in Morgan County, Tennessee. His mother was Margaret Jones. He was raised by his grandparents, William and Martha Jones. It is rumored that your last name is Howard. The other person that I would invite DAVID O'NEAL. You are my great grandfather on my dad's side of the family. You were born in the mid 1800, probably around 1860. You may have been in the Spanish American War. If you were, you were AWOL alot and you were discharged to Atlanta. Could you have lived and died there? You were married to my great grandmother, LAURA MORGAN (a/k/a LAURA TAYLOR). You are possibly from Loudon County, Tennessee. That is where you married Laura. you may have met Laura in North Carolina. You may have lived in Knox County with her. You dropped off the face of the earth after your marriage. Were you beamed up to Mars? Are you still alive? (Not!?!?) Come to my house and we will have all of the southern traditional Thanksgiving Dishes. I am a pretty good cook, as I am sure that my ancestors were. 1. I NEED HELP
    2. i NEED HELP BADLY for I have used up all of my sources in NYC-I, in fact wrote to NYS also-noone seems to be able to help me and I find myself picking at needles. For nearly five years I have been praying for answers on this so I find myself pleaing for help now for my feet seem to be hypnotised to the floor for I cannot find direction. The story is this-------On my gfathers death certificate,Hyman HOFFMAN,died on August 31,1943 in Manhattan. It states that his wife,Fannie, preceeded him in death. They had six children-Louis,Anna,Harry,Irving,Benjamin and Abraham.I cannot find her death date.According to my brother in law,Anna told all of her siblings that if they had anything to do with him that she would disown them. I feel that he got remarried and that she was very jealous of the attention given to the second wife.(if that is true) I was told by one professional that he married another Fannie in 1922 or around then and that she died in child birth in 1933 I sent for her dc after contacting Beth El and finding that there was a Fannie Hoffman buried in other section of the cemetery. When I got the dc it was wrong but I saved it just in case. If it was her, I would like to find when she got married. If in deed that there was an marriage announcement in a paper(in a Jewish Newspaper as well.) Where number 1 died and if I can get an obit-thank you. Researching:WEINTRAUB,HERTZBERG,HOFFMAN,ARMIN,FEINBERG,ROSENSTEIN.
