Has anyone come across any information on who this William James parents were. He was born abt. 1778 in Virginia, he was not listed in 1850 Haywood Co.,census. He married Elizabeth Gasperson (according to daughter's death record). Children: Cynthia, born abt. 1825, William, born 6 June 1826 NC, Noah, born abt 1828, Nancy E., born 13 Feb 1833 NC, Riley A. , born Oct. 1837 NC, Leanna/Lina, born abt. 1847 On daughter's death record (Nancy Knight) his name was written Wm. I don't know if they just used that for short or if that was his name since the William name is repeated constantly as either the first or second name of child born. Was it customary for the first child to be named after the wife's mother or father... Any information will be appreciated. This is a brick wall.
