Author: nolanzmommy Surnames: Umland Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/topics.researchresources.lookups.lookups/3322/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I'm trying to find a missing link between Richard Umland born in 1842 in "Germany" and an August Friedrich Wilhelm Umland born in 1821 in a town called Hermelsdorf which was in Pommern, Prussia. I am hoping to find where specifically this Richard was born. If I can pin it down to any town close to Hermelsdorf or find some document showing August as his father (or something showing Richard as August's son) I would be ecstatic. If I can find this one connection I can trace my husband's family line of Umland's back to 1695. FYI... this Richard Umland immigrated in 1868 and settled in western Minnesota.
