He served as a private in Capt. Bedinger's & Capt. Finley's Co.'s, in Colonel Darke's VA Regiment. He served until the end of the war. He was allowed pension on his application executed May 27, 1824 at which time he was living in Jackson Co.,OH and was 70 years of age. In 1824 his wife was about 60 years of age, her name not given; his daughter Mary age 15 lived at home then. He referred also at the time to 4 other sons: John age 39, Henry age 26, James age 30 & married and Daniel age 23, unmarried. In 1826 and in 1842 he was living in Scioto Co.,OH. His brother Thomas Canter in 1826 was living in Jackson Co.,OH and his brother Truman Canter resided in Rockcastle Co., Kentucky. Hope this helps some.
