Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/AhC.2ACI/2820 Message Board Post: I'm trying to find further information on the sinking of the "Sultana" on the Mississippi River at the end of the Civil War. Off the coast of St. Louis, or close to it. Specifically, I'm looking to see if the logbook of names on board survived. If it did, does anyone know where I can find the names on it, or?? There was an article on it in a St. Louis newspaper on the subject two years after it happened, 1867, but I don't knowthe name of the paper. Any help on where to go from here would sure be appreciated. Thanks, Carlette
Try http://www.steamboats.org/ for info on the steamships Their site has a search bar (quite a few 'hits' for Sultana) and the responses from the volunteers on the message board is great. Quite a knowledgeable group.
