That Ellis website is great! That makes me almost 99% sure that Jean Arnold was Swiss. The commune of Fontainemelon tells me that he wasn't born there or married there, but they have put me on to the Cantonal archives in Neuchatel so I hope I'll get some confirmation there. Thanks too for the info about Jean/Jessie Arnold. Aren't transcription mistakes a nuisance. It took me ages to do part of my ULPH ancestry because it had been transcribed in so many odd ways, including TR...h ! I wish you happy searching and a great day!
