Her death certificate, obituary, marriage record, naturalization papers, or immigration papers might have this information. You would also need to find out her adopted parents' names. Again, the above records may have their names. You also might find clues in a will or probate records. Also, did her adopted parents immigrate, too? Finally, unless you speak German you would probably need to either hire a researcher who speaks German or find a volunteer who speaks German, since the original records will be in German. Another good source could be the Family History Centers (aka Mormon genealogy library.) They may have German vital records (but you won't know until you know the area.)
