    1. [GENEALOGY-LOOKUP] 1900 Census John ALEXANDER, Nellie (CUMMINGS) ALEXANDER/SCHIER
    2. Teale
    3. Hello. I would appreciate a lookup please. The person I am seeking is John Alexander. He was a habitual liar so it has been hard to find out anything concrete about him or him origins. he married Nellie May Cummings on 26 Apri 1892 in Lynn, Essex Co, Mass. She was b. abt 20 jun 1873 in Lynn, but have never found an actual birth record. This record states his birth date about 1869. Also states his parents were John and Catherine (though last name not specified). He died some time between 1893-1900 i believe. He got into a bar fight, thrown in the Charles St Jail in Boston, and apparently died from injuries suffered in the brawl. Nellie remarried in 18 oct 1900 to John Augustine Schier. I had always assumed Alexander died before they were wed, though I can't be sure of that now. I've not been able to find a death record for him yet. Nor a birth record for that matter. John and Nellie had a son George William Alexander born 18 jun 1893 filed in Nahant, Essex, Ma. Though family legend has it that he actualy was born "on the road". John was an actor with a travelling Punch and Judy show, and supposedly Nellie delivered while they were away on "tour" Census and vital records for George indicate that his father was born in New York, not Massachsetts. Though family legend has it that john Alexander wasn't even his birth name. That he was born a Pierre Pigeon prob in France. That he was a merchant marine that came over here and decided to stay. He took on John Alexander as a stage name. Though none of this has been substantiated. also family members recall that he was in a war, and his widow went to claim his pension. thats how they found he was named Pierre. acoording to his marriage record, he wouldnt have been old enough to be in any older war, so he either was in the Civil War and lied about his age, or he was in the Spanish American war just before he died, and his widow remarried almost immediately (or didnt die until later, but they divorced). He also listed John P. Alexander on one of the records. I searched the census index on Ancestry.com and saw a few John's listed in Essex Co, Mass. I saw a john P Alexander b abt 1855. he was white and married, though i can't see the name. I also see another John Alexander, b abt 1862. white. I'm not positive he was in essex county anymore, if either of these are him or his father, or even if he is alive. But i'd liek to see these 2 entries to see if maybe they are indeed him. This main has been quite the pain since the beginning and I don't envision ever finding much truth on him. I appreciate any help that can be provided. Thank you.
