GENEALOGY WORKSHOP: GLF-MIKE would like to announce that we will be holding a Genealogy Workshop to celebrate our 4th year anniversary. This event will run from February 1-14, 2009. Our regular scheduled chats will be cancelled during this 2 week celebration. To kick off this celebration on February 1, 2009, we will have an anniversary party. Every GLF chat member is invited to attend. This will be an open discussion whether the topic is genealogy related or not. The HOSTS will be encouraged to attend in their hats so that everyone can get to know them if chatters have not attended one of their chats. The exact time for the party has not been scheduled but it will be posted in the near future. The Genealogy Workshop will include genealogical topic presentations and/or discussions with our HOSTS and Guest Speakers. We encourage any chat member who may be interested in presenting a genealogical topic or holding a specific genealogical discussion, please email your interest to GLF-MIKE and he will forward it to the planning committee. Our planning committee for this event will consist of GLF-DAE, GLF-JAYNE, GLF-SUSI & GLF-ZOS. GLF-MIKE will post the Genealogy Workshop schedule online ASAP. NOTE: Due to schedule availability & topic interest. GLF reserves the right to pick and choose the genealogical topic presentations and/or discussions that will be the most beneficial for our GLF chat members. *The workshop will be held online at the following URL. Please forward this information to your genealogy friends or cuzzies that you feel may be interested.* ** http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~genealogylookup/chatroom.html ** ** * * * *

My line is Hupp and a Sarah Davis that married John Hupp. The Hupp family I was inquiring about is in the 1880 census in Union, Carroll, Iowa (the index shows their last name to be Davies - which is incorrect). Are these people any relation to the names you are referring to? Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Robert Braman/Brannon/Branon Born: 1800 PA was in 1880 Larimer Co CO Census age 79 apparently did not turn 80 until after the July census. Could some kind soul do a cemetery index check for Larimer Co CO for me and tell me if they can find a man by this name. Spouse was Jane at the time of this census. If I can find a record of a death perhaps I can find an obit for this person as well as a copy of his will/probate at the CO State Archives as Larimer Co District Court Clerk tells me that their records have all been transferred to the State Archives.
Hello list: James T. SMITH 1801-1866 married Margaret (Margrett) ELLIOTT 1799-1868, at Perquimans County, NC on 29 May 1824. Both are now buried at Oak Grove Cemetery, Portsmouth, Va. As far as I can determine James was born in Virginia and Margaret (Margrett) was born in North Carolina. Is there anyway I can determine James' parent's name or does someone have a "magic" reference to look it up in? Thanks.

I am looking for information about a possible adoption located in Boston or Maine newspapers. I know this is a long shot but wow, what a find if I could solve it? I am looking for an adoption of a baby boy (born in Maine) by a man named John Sweeney/Sweeny, a Boston resident around the time of May 3 1829. I do not know the county the boy was born in but I suspect York because it is the closest to Boston. Both of the boy's parents were dying and gave the child to John Sweeny. The child's name might have been Richard and his bio parents might have been from Ireland. That is all I know. I am hoping that there was an annoucement or news about it in the Boston newspapers around that time. Since it is such a specific date I am hoping that it was reported within a month of that time. Thanks so much!
