Hello. I finally got a copy of mine very own of The Old Families of Salisbury and Amesbury by David Hoyt. I've found this book priceless to my research. If anyone would like me to lookup info in it, I will be glad to. There are some errors, some of which are corrected right in the book, some of which i find out from other sources but its a great place to start. I have the version with the multiple volumes in one, the 1981 edition. If you ask for a name lookup, I will look through all the indices and find the pages the name is located on, then find those pages. I cannot do alot of typing, due to pain, so if it's a hefty amount of typing, i will just scan the pages with the relevant info. If you need a lookup, email me at * edbatch at gmail dot com * with something along the lines of* Amesbury and Salisbury* in the subject (with the group email tag removed, so it doesnt get filtered), so that i don't miss it in the midst of the many group emails. Also, please give me some time to respond. i dont always check this account every day :) I hope I can be of help to someone, since so many nice folk have helped me out :) -- ~*~ Allyssa (New England, USA) ~*~ (I am house-bound, so can only search from home. I always GREATLY appreciate the kindness of volunteers.) http://branches.fieryangel.net/leaves (very old but it lists some of the lookups I can do)

I imagine from reading the abstract that the focus will be on statistics and diseases which most commonly occurred over the forty years, but you never know. Since VT started keeping vital records in 1852, the town clerk should be able to provide you with the needed info. There should also be a burial permit on file with the town clerk. Author: kq1969 Surnames: Quinlan, McConnell Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/topics.researchresources.lookups.lookups/3256/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am looking for Michael Quinlan [1824, Tipperary, Ireland] and his wife, Rosa McConnell Quinlan [1831, Meath, Ireland] in the 1855 Newburgh, Orange County, New York census. Any information in that census for this family would be appreciated. The family lived in Newburgh, from 1853-1857. They had a son, James Ambrose Quinlan born in 1853. Their other children would have been born, after the 1855 census. Only one other son, John Joseph Quinlan [April 1857] was born in Newburgh. He was baptized at Saint Patrick's Catholic Church, Newburgh, Orange County, New York, in April 1857. According to the "Wilson's Newburgh Directory For 1856-1857", they lived on the north side of Plank Road near Powell Avenue, but I have not been able to find, in which district this would be. This family left Newburgh shortly, after the birth of the second son in 1857 for Hannibal, Missouri, and no other family members are known to remain in Newburgh, after 1857. I have not been able to confirm any other Quinlan or McConnell families in Newburgh to be related to this family. Michael Quinlan's Father's name was James Quinlan from Tipperary, Ireland. His Mother's maiden name was Martin. Rosa McConnell Quinlan's Mother's maiden name was Gilbert. Her father's name may have been John McConnell. The McConnell family was from Meath, Ireland. Born: abt 1822 NY this according to marriage record states he was of the age of 22 at time of marriage. If there is anyone out there in the DC area that would be able to do me this lookup and see if there was actually a widow's pension filed for as Eliza Jane disappears after the 1870 census Lorain Lorain Co OH she was age 42 may tell me if she was still living and if so where she was when she filed for the pension if one was filed for. Thanks so much.
Harriett Hinkley born abrt 1847 OH daughter of Eliza Jane (Brannon/Brannan/Branon/Branan/ Braman) and Daniel W. Hinkley. Age -3- 1850 Boston Twp Summit Co OH census. Then in 1860 Elyria Lorain Co OH she was living with a family name of DRIGGS. Mother and 2 sisters and "Dad" Daniel "Peck" or "Hinkley" as all family members listed as being members of the Herman and Lydia Peck Family". Did Harriett marry a James Peck? If so where? When? The James F and Harriett Peck in Juneau Co WI does not appear to be my Harriett as she would have been 3-1850, 13-1860, 23-1870, 33-1880, 43-1890 had there been a census that survived, and 53-1900, 63-1910, etc. Harriett was born in OH possibly in Summit Co OH (need to find a baptismal record) hard to do when I do not know their primary religion or if they had one. Thanks so much for your time and help with this family.

I have very little to go on and this is the biggest, fattest brick wall I have ever had yet. Is it possible to find infomation about Joseph Andert and/or his parents of possible other relatives? Joseph Andert was born March 17, 1888 in Rarshoff, Russia (there is no Rarshoff, Russia that I could find - could be Poland, Austria or Prussia according to the information below. "A very large part of Poland was incorporated in Russia in 1888. The rest was in Austria and Prussia. There was no Polish state or government in 1888." I have the history of Joseph Andert from Europe to America. INFORMATION FROM THE DEATH CERTIFICATE OF JOSEPH ANDERT: Father of Joseph Andert - Jacob Andert Born - Unknown city in Germany Mother of Joseph Andert - Julia Hildebrandt Born - Unknown city in Germany Joseph - born March 17, 1888 in Rarshoff, Russia Questions I have now? Was the name of the city that Joseph was born in actually Rarshoff, Russia or was it misinterpretted somehow? I cannot find any Rarshoff, Russia or that city any where else either. If so - what other possibilities are there? I have no idea how to find further information about the above. I have checked and posted to every pertinent board on Jewish Gen because Joseph is buried in a Jewish Cemetery in NY, NY and his wife is buried in a Jewish cemetery in Connecticut. Of course, that doesn't mean that his parents were Jewish either. He may have converted to Judiaism with his marriage to Celia Altschuler. He was also buried in the "Working Mens Circle". But I do not know what this is exactly or how to obtain information about this. Sorry to make this so long, but I did want to include any background that I felt might be pertinent. thanks so much Linda lhendri479@aol.com Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
