    1. Re: [GENEALOGY-LOOKUP] William (H?) McKinney
    2. Dortha Greenlee
    3. William McKinney was my great grandfather. He was born in SC in 1815. He married Elizabeth Pigg Wakefield in Lincoln Co.,TN, about 1 March 1840. According to one of his son-in-laws, Albert H McAllister, William died in the summer of 1867. I have never been able to find where he died. The family was in Lincoln Co.,TN for the 1850 and 1860 census. By the fall of 1867 they were in Hill Co., TX buying land. Elizabeth bought in her own name and their eldest son, William Henry McKinney, also bought land. The second son was my grandfather, John J (J J) McKinney. My mother told me that her dad was born in TN and also lived in MS. I've never been able to find the MS connection, but it is possible they moved to MS before moving to TX. The unit that J J and William served in during the Civil War was a MS unit, but they joined in west TN. I hope you can help me find where William died and is buried. Also, I've never found Elizabeth's resting place! I found records on the family getting records together, pertaining to her estate by September, 1885. Those records were in Hill Co., TX. Thank you very much. Dortha McElroy Greenlee [email protected]
