Author: HazelMLeBlanc Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/topics.researchresources.lookups.lookups/2883.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Jo, I have 6 thoughts for you to try. 1. Look up their name on the social security death records on Rootsweb. It should give you the address where their last check was mailed. 2. Call your local library and ask them if they have any old telephone books, and don't forget to ask if they have them on mircoflim. I used this aveune when I planned a class reunion. I knew the towns, but not the address. They had cross reference books on film. They have the individuals listed by name, address and telephone numbers. 3. Their death certificates should give you their address or that of the relative who was responsible for the information given. 4. The funeral home that handled the services for the family, should also have the address for the responsible party. 5. Try the utility companies. Even if they rented apartments or houses instead of owning one they would have had to pay for electric/gas and water and telephone services. 6. Do you remember what schools you and your siblings attended? The school board would have their addresses. Let us know if any of these suggestions work for you. These are my brick walls. Joseph THOMAS was born about 1835 in Ohio. Elmira BROWN was born June 22, 1834 in Illinois. They were married about 1851, probably in Illinois. I have found them in the census in Kinderhook, Pike County, and I know they were in Jo Daviess County, Illinois. In 1865 they left for California, Joseph dying on the trail. Elmira remarried in California to a William Prothero. Joseph and Elmira had four children, Mary Louisa 1856, Melvina 1860, Josephine Eveline 1862, and Catherine Jane born on the trail to California. I can't find anything on their parents, except Elmira's father was born in Tennessee and her mother was born in Kentucky, according to the 1880 census. My other lines: McClure, Betts, Dewell, Elliott, Wetzel. Beverly [email protected]
My brickwalls are: Joseph Regele & Dorthy Bach Regele, New York City Robert Coggins & Arrenna Flowers Coggins, Tenn, Ga & Mo Robert Wiley Cooper, last known date was 1870 in Mo ***my gg-grandmother, Samantha C. Cox, married 3 times that I'm aware of, she 1st married John Peter Simon Garner of Wright Co, Mo--they divorced abt 1885, she then married Hiram H. Carder also of Wright Co, they moved to Ark, have no idea where, later returned to Mo & moved to Maries Co, Mo--Hiram died abt 1897 in Maries Co. In 1905 she married John L. Cox of Osage Co, Mo. In 1920 they are living in Morton Co, Ks. They purchased 2 head-stones in the Rolla Cemetary in Ks. John was buried there in 1940's. No sign Samantha is buried there, there is no record of her at this date. Last known date on her is 1920 in Morton Co, census. 1930 census John is living with his son.
