You can think of Genesis as "phase II" Gedmatch. It does everything Gedmatch does and more, including accepting and processing raw data from more companies and their newer platforms. List Are people having trouble with GEDmatch-Genesis ? I am getting some very 'high matches' but without any matching segments ! Most confusing ? And I get a different sets of matches with the new one-to-many search when entering my 'classic-GEDmatch ID' and my 'Genesis-ID'. Again most confusing. Also, can we ever expect: GEDmatch-Genesis to accept GEDCOMS and mtDNA Haplogroup labels ? They already accept GEDCOMs, Ian. Once you log in, notice the two boxes for file uploads. I don't know about plans for mtDNA and Y-DNA. Genesis is navigating a tricky road to accommodate new chips with low SNP overlap to older chips. We can expect to see differences in match lists for many reasons. One is that GEDmatch Classic did not use all SNPs on a chip, only ones that fit a "template" based on the earliest chips. When a kit migrates to Genesis, more SNPs may be used. That can affect match lists in opposite ways: it may be easier to reach a SNP threshold, or conversely the new SNPs may expose mismatches that contradict the existence of a segment. If you are seeing very high matches in a one-to-many that don't persist when you do a one-to-one, chances are that it is a false positive. GEDmatch leans over backwards to be as inclusive as possible, meaning the false positive rate will be higher. Any GEDmatch Classic links to GEDCOMs and haplogroup labels are visible in the Tier 1 one-to-many. I don't know what would happen if you tried to upload a GEDCOM to GEDmatch Classic now that it is no longer accepting uploads of raw data files.
