    3. Hi Listers, I'm new to the list and new to DNA Genealogy but have been researching my family history for over 25 years. I found an oddity and I know how I would explain it in tree form but not when we have DNA involved. I'm working on this for an adoptee and have been triangulating DNA matches. I have 5 people involved in this and have trees for 3 of them. I don't want to use their names so I'm labeling them A-E. A, B, C, D are all connected via DNA. I have trees for A & B. B, C, D, E are all connected via DNA. I have a tree for E. A and E are not connected via DNA but do share a surname (and locale) in their trees that is also prevalent in the tree for B. C & D involve adoptions and know nothing about their trees. I found the connections via GedMatch and did a one-to-one check for A and E, nothing. Is it possible that there is a match but the cM is so low that it doesn't register? Or is it that they're related through a different surname and I just haven't found it yet? I'm hoping that someone might give me a new way to look at this. 3. I used the tools and the charts to create a tentative tree for my friend and have a specific possibility for a great-grandfather. I'm wondering if an mtDNA test would help?
