John, I put your question to a staff member at 23andMe and got the following reply: "" Can someone say definitively, what happens to matches of ours who have accepted our Invite but continue to be Anonymous to the rest of their matches. The way I read 23's description, they're going to be all reverted to Anonymous and deleted from our lists." * That's not the case. First, all anonymous matches will remain visible until these members either choose a display name or opt out of the feature. Second, as mentioned in the original post, accepted introductions will be saved. The content of messages for introductions that have been accepted will be copied over to the updated messaging system in the new DNA Relatives. So if you have made contact with a match, this match will remain on your list and your messages will be available unless and until that match chooses to opt out of the feature." Ok, I'll believe that. But can someone point to a quote which says specifically that that's the use of the phrase that the coding team know they're supposed to be using? I mean they don't say Anonymous matches can't send or receive emails from those with whom they're still Anonymous. They say Anonymous Matches can't send or receive emails period. IOW the coding team may be using 1 setting from the profile when your definition seems to be from somewhere else (i.e. I'm not sure if I could recognize your definition from any of the queries in the Profile setting page.)
