I don't think the anon matches are being removed until the anon kit is updated to the "new" 23&Me. and the anon person will be "presented with" a choice of the profile name showing or opting out of DNARelatives. At least that's how I'm reading the 23&Me response on their forums. That says that when the anonymous person is transitioned to the "new" 23andMe that they'll have to choose to have their profile name visible or else opt out of DNA relatives. https://www.23andme.com/you/community/thread/41020/24/ She also has indicated several times that we will keep anonymous matches who have agreed to share, but I'm guessing that those that opt out will disappear. Many of the anon matches, those that easily agreed to share, will probably agree to using a profile name. As for the anonymous who never agree to share, good riddance. In about a week probably 1,600 Anon Matches will drop out; and with no effort on my part, my list of Shared Genomes will gradually grow to 2,000. I say yippie! What's not to like. The system will automatically show only those who are willing to share. I like it. with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
Barbara I'm not sure I've ever seen a Match who is Sharing Genomes who is also Anon... I think all of my 1,000 shares have some name and I can contact them....
